Poll Watchers Needed - Training Provided

Attention All California Voters

We are weeks away from the 2012 Presidential Election

In just a few short weeks, we will go to the polls to participate in the part of government that empowers us with our most basic right ~ the right to choose our representatives by vote.

The Election Integrity Project (EIP) would like to invite youto participate in protecting the fundamental Constitutional right of all citizens ~ regardless of political preference ~ by helping to ensure that every vote is lawfully cast and accurately counted.

EIP will be hosting trainings Sat Oct 27 at 10:00 am

Contact toni@electionintegrityproject.com to rsvp for class or visit www.electionintegrityproject.com to register for this and other classes.

According to the Secretary of State’s May 2012 Elections Observation Rights and Responsibilities, observers have the right to:

  • Observe pre-Election Day activities,
  • Observe the Election Process
  • View election related activities at the central counting site
  • Ask questions of poll workers as long as they do not interfere with the conduct of any part of the voting process.

Who is the Election Integrity Project?   www.electionintegrityproject.com

  • The Election Integrity Project, Inc. is a non-partisan, citizen based organization formed to provide grassroots oversight and support state and federal election law. Our intent is that the right of every voter is protected by assuring that every vote is legally cast and accurately counted.
  • Today EIP has 23 County Teams representing approximately 80% of the voters in California
  • For the 2012 June Primary – EIP recruited and trained approximately 1,000 observers throughout the state to observe the election process and were received well in all counties.

What EIP learned from observing the Polls on June 5:

Registrar of Voters’ Poll Worker training often lacked depth and was inconsistent with Election Law/regulations – often poll workers were poorly trained.

  • Many VBM Voters did not receive their ballots and were required to vote provisionally.
  • Party affiliations had been changed without voters’ knowledge.
  • Voter Machines malfunctioned and repairs were unreasonably delayed.
    • Electioneering by some Poll Workers or others was being tolerated.
    • EIP observers were welcomed and Poll Workers often requested EIP Observers’ advice.

Thousands of Union Workers Expected to Opt-Out of All Union Dues

(Pacific Justice Institute) A national campaign called ChooseCharity launched Monday, empowering virtually every union worker in America to simply opt-out of union dues and have them diverted to a charity of their choice.
Confirmed by years of case law pursuant to Title VII, unions are required to allow workers to divert their union dues when the worker can show that supporting their union violates their sincerely held religious beliefs, or who have moral convictions against the immoral practices of unions, or who morally disagree with the concept of unions themselves.

In the past, unions have complied with such wishes, but usually only after making it difficult to do so. ChooseCharity intends to change that. Union workers who wish to opt-out can visit ChooseCharity.org where they will find a simple application process that requires no additional out-of-pocket costs. Once the application is submitted, the ChooseCharity legal staff will take care of the rest of the process.

Ireland: Children’s referendum grants the State power to seize children to serve new ideology

(LifeSiteNews) According to opponents, Ireland’s upcoming Children’s Rights Referendum is nothing more than a ploy by a power-mad State to grant itself the right to snatch children from parents and seize control over the most fundamental unit of society. Polls indicate the Irish public is about to pass the measure.

Critics have called the proposed amendment to the Constitution “a beachhead by the state into what has traditionally been the preserve of the rights of parents in the upbringing of their children”. The amendment’s wording allows state agents to remove children from the family and place them in care if they believe it is in the child’s “best interests”. It allows children to be adopted out to other families without parents’ consent.

Terrorism charges for Family Research Council shooting suspect

(LifeSiteNews) A federal grand jury has added terrorism to the charges facing the gay rights activists accused of shooting a security guard at the headquarters of the Family Research Council.

The United States Attorney’s Office announced several new charges, including the terrorism charge, yesterday. The terrorism charge, which carries a penalty of up to 30 years in prison, is the first ever under a 2002 District of Columbia anti-terrorism statute.

Other charges added by the grand jury include attempted murder while armed, aggravated assault while armed, and weapons charges.

Corkins has already pleaded not guilty to charges of interstate transportation of a firearm, assault with intent to kill while armed, and possession of a firearm during a crime of violence.

Corkins, who had been a volunteer at a local homosexual activist organization, allegedly invaded the lobby of FRC on August 15 armed with a 9mm pistol, approximately 50 rounds of ammunition, and 15 Chick-fil-A sandwiches purchased the day before. At the time, Chick-fil-A was in the news due to CEO Dan Cathy’s statements in support of traditional marriage.

Obamacare Mandate: Anyone Who Works 30-Hour Week Is Now `Full-Time`

(CNSNews) A little-known section in the Obamacare health reform law defines “full-time” work as averaging only 30 hours per week, a definition that will affect some employers who utilize part-time workers to trim the cost of complying with the Obamacare rule that says businesses with 50 or more workers must provide health insurance or pay a fine.

“The term ‘full-time employee’ means, with respect to any month, an employee who is employed on average at least 30 hours of service per week,” section 1513 of the law reads.  (Scroll down to section 4, paragraph A.)

That section, known as the employer mandate, requires any business with 50 or more full-time employees to provide at least the minimum level of government-defined health coverage to those employees.

New Live Action sting shows Planned Parenthood lying about abortion dangers

(LifeSiteNews) What happens when you call a Planned Parenthood clinic where a woman recently died after a horrific botched abortion, and ask if abortion is safe and if anyone has ever been hurt at the clinic?

That’s what the pro-life organization Live Action set out to find out in its latest undercover investigation. In addition to the Chicago facility where Tonya Reaves died earlier this summer, Live Action undercover investigators called abortion clinics in seven states that had recently botched abortions so badly that officials had to call 911 for emergency medical assistance.

In every case, officials at the clinics insisted abortion was safe, and that no one had ever been harmed at their clinics.

Judge OKs agreement between state, ACLU over updating birth certificates after sex changes

(AP/The Republic) People who undergo sex changes will find it easier to change the gender on their Illinois birth certificates under an agreement approved Tuesday by a Cook County judge.

The Illinois Department of Public Health previously denied requests to change the gender on a birth certificate unless the person had undergone genital reconstruction surgery. But the American Civil Liberties Union sued last year on behalf of three transgender individuals, arguing that the state`s rules should not specify what kind of surgery a person must have before updating a birth certificate.

Some sex changes don`t involve genital reconstruction for medical or financial reasons, the ACLU said. For example, a woman transferring to a man might choose to have breast-reduction surgery but nothing else.

After the ACLU filed its legal challenge, the Department of Public Health changed its policy to eliminate the requirement for genital reconstruction. But the court proceedings continued because the ACLU feared the department could reverse course.

National Fasting... Is it Still Necessary?

(Wallbulders) From the days of the Pilgrims, with the first day of fasting ever called in America, to where we are today, one thing remains consistent - America`s need for Divine intervention. For this reason, some 1,400 government-issued calls to prayer were given by governors and presidents, with nearly half of those calls being for days of fasting and prayer. In fact, Founding Father Thomas Jefferson was one of our leaders who helped initiate the call for the first national day of fasting and prayer.

Meanwhile, defenders of traditional marriage hope Minnesota will become the latest state to pass a constitutional amendment defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman - effectively banning same-sex marriages.

Irish ‘Children’s Rights’ referendum poses major threat to families/parents, say critics

(LifeSiteNews) Irish pro-life and family observers are warning that an upcoming referendum to amend the constitution regarding the “rights of the child” is in reality a “power grab of monstrous proportions” by government aimed at erasing the natural rights of parents and of children. Critics are warning that under the proposal’s mandate, children can be removed from their natural homes and put up for adoption by the state at any time, “where the best interests of the child so require.”

Doctors File Legal Brief; 20-Week-Old Babies Feel Pain During Abortion

(Christian Post) A doctors group that supports an Arizona law restricting non-emergency abortions after 20 weeks filed a legal brief with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit showing that babies feel pain during an abortion as early as the same amount of weeks into a pregnancy.

A district court found that "the unborn child has developed pain sensors all over its body by 20 weeks gestational age" and that there is concern for "the health of the pregnant woman" because the instance of complications is highest after this time.

It’s Official: Gov. Brown Signs Gay Therapy Ban; PJI Filing Suit

Pacific Justice Institute has led the fight against SB 1172 since its introduction in the spring by Sen. Ted Lieu (D-Torrance). PJI attorneys attended all of the bill’s policy committee hearings and warned legislators that it was an unconstitutional restriction on the First Amendment, privacy, and parental rights. PJI attorneys anticipated yesterday`s enactment of the bill and will be filing a federal lawsuit on Monday, October 1, in Sacramento.

“Of all the freedom-killing bills we have seen in our legislature the last several years, this is among the worst,” said Brad Dacus president of PJI. “This outrageous bill makes no exceptions for young victims of sexual abuse who are plagued with unwanted same-sex attraction, nor does it respect the consciences of mental health professionals who work in a church. We are filing suit to defend families, children, and religious freedom. This unprecedented bill is outrageously unconstitutional.”

PJI’s lawsuit will seek an injunction to prevent implementation of the law on Jan. 1.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of American Adults shows that 23% believe today’s children will be better off than their parents. Fifty-nine percent (59%) disagree, and 18% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Former soldier tells amazing story of redemption

(OneNewsNow) A Sudanese pastor and former South Sudan Army soldier is in the United States telling his story of restoration and redemption.

Last July, South Sudan gained its independence, creating a constitution built on Christian principles. As a 14-year-old boy, John Garang served in the South Sudan Army through the mid-1980s and witnessed unimaginable bloodshed while battling the predominantly Arab North Sudan.

After meeting with missionaries, Garang gave his life to Christ, and some 15 years later, he now serves as a pastor and director of Children Are People Ministries in Kenya, an orphanage serving 94 children from Sudan.

Pastors will challenge politics from the pulpit law

(OneNewsNow) Pastors are lining up to defy Internal Revenue Service rules against their speaking out on elections as October 7, Pulpit Freedom Sunday, approaches.

The purpose is to make sure the pastor, not the IRS, decides what is said from the pulpit. Alliance Defending Freedom attorney Erik Stanley tells OneNewsNow that this more of a problem than people realize.

"A lot of people may not realize it, but since 1954, the IRS has inserted itself into the process of what is said from the pulpit and has punished and threatened to punish churches for something the pastor says that may issue support or opposition for one candidate or another," he explains.

That stems from the Johnson Amendment attached to legislation by then-Sen. Lyndon Johnson (D) of Texas to silence conservative pastors and non-profit groups that would oppose him.
