How Will You Honor the Fallen?

daily_commentary_05_27_16

(Breakpoint) Yep, Memorial Day is almost here: the semi-official start of summer with a three-day weekend thrown in. So much to do. In fact, if you go to Google and type in “Memorial Day what to do,” you’ll get all kinds of activities in your area: food and film fests, music concerts, baseball games.  (Read More)

(Faith & Freedom) New York University professor Jonathan Haidt told an audience this week there`s a new religion exploding on campuses of America`s colleges and universities.

And if it isn`t stopped, it might be better to shut down the institutions over the next 20 - 30 years.

The new religion, Dr. Haidt says, is creating an existential crises in education while punishing heretics with public shame. And the religion is both intense and destructive.  (Read More)

General Relief over Boykin Return

(FRC) When Lt. General Jerry Boykin (U.S. Army-Ret.) retired from the military, he had no idea he’d still be fighting for the freedoms he spent 36 years defending. But at FRC, our Executive Vice President likes to say that he left the Army to join the culture war. And this week, that war came right to his front door.  (Read More)

The Moral Revolutionaries Present Their Demands: Unconditional Surrender

(Albert Mohler) Now that the moral revolutionaries are solidly in control, what is to be demanded of Christians who, on the basis of Christian conviction, cannot join the revolution? The demands have now been presented, and they represent unconditional surrender.  (Read More)

Facebook Criticized for Changing Patricia Heaton’s “Celebrate Life” Message to “Anti-Abortion”

(LifeNews) After denying that it was censoring conservative news last week, Facebook proved once again that it does spin the top news of the day to fit its CEO’s left-leaning agenda. The example comes from Hot Air reporter Larry O’Connor who said the social media network mischaracterized a pro-life message from actress Patricia Heaton that went viral last week.  (Read More)

Sometimes A Question is Better than an Answer

(Breakpoint) Last week, at a gathering of strategists on some tough cultural issues, a very good point was made: Sometimes the right question at the right time is the best way to have a conversation with someone with whom you fundamentally disagree.  (Read More)

Living In a Romans 1 World

(The Stand) For some, that paints a pretty dim picture.  For the church, it should be a wake-up call to repentance, and a battle cry.  Nowhere in scripture is the Christian called to hide in a hole until the return of Christ! As the days turn darker, we are called to shine all the brighter.  Shouldn’t we try to save all we can?  (Read More)

Bathrooms, Biology and Federal Overreach

(Breakpoint) The last two weeks have been, of all things, about bathrooms. First, the U.S. Department of Justice notified the state of the North Carolina that HB 2, or the bathroom law, violated the Civil Rights Act.  (Read More)

We Can Impact Our Public Schools

daily_commentary_05_09_16

(Breakpoint) Many Christians have bailed on public schools these days. And watching the news it’s easy to see why. Whether promoting the ideas of the sexual revolution, strange bathroom policies, censoring Christmas from plays, violence, falling test scores or removing the Bible from libraries—I get it. It’s easy to be outraged. But outrage isn’t a strategy.  (Read More)

(Faith & Freedom) Sec. of State John Kerry in his commencement speech at Northeastern University Friday, dismissed the importance of borders---and strongly suggested that America`s heritage is meaningless.

Where Are You God?

(The Stand) It’s hard to be a hopeful upbeat Christian in today’s America. The steady stream of news and events concerning culture is both depressing and maddening. The Church in America is receding in number, status, and influence. Looking Christian is far more popular than actually being Christian today.  (Read More)

Crisis in American Democracy

(Albert Mohler) ...the idea of a limited government requires that society uphold and pursue the health of its most basic institutions. When a civil society is weak, government becomes strong. When the family breaks down, government grows stronger. When the essential institutions of society are no longer respected, government demands that respect for itself. That is a recipe for tyranny.  (Read More)

Is the Handwriting on the Wall for America?

(Franklin Graham) When we began our Decision America Tour on a bitterly cold January day in Des Moines, Iowa, I didn’t know exactly what to expect as we kicked off a nine-month tour of all 50 state capitals.

I wasn’t sure how many people would be able to come to an outdoor prayer rally in the middle of the workday. I wondered how the call to pray, vote and engage in the political process would be received across the nation.  (Read More)

C. S. Lewis`s Journey out of Atheism

(Breakpoint) Those of us who love and look up to the great apologist C. S. Lewis as an example of what a Christian should be sometimes tend to forget how miraculous it is that he became a Christian at all. As a young man, Lewis’s path was taking him in quite a different direction.  (Read More)

Light at Conception

(Breakpoint) God’s active act of creation, as described in Genesis 1, begins with those familiar words “Let there be light,” or, as my Latin-loving colleagues prefer, “fiat lux.”

Throughout the Scriptures, God’s presence and power is associated with light. This is most obviously true in all of the writings the Apostle John. In fact, as 1 John tells us, “God is light and in Him there is no darkness at all.”  (Read More)
