Target takes out ad featuring same-sex ‘married’ couple

(LifeSiteNews) Target is promoting their wedding registry with a focus on homosexual “marriage”. A new ad released last month depicts two men holding hands with the slogan, “Be yourself, together.”

The retail giant has angered both pro-family and pro-homosexual activists as they have apparently flip-flopped in their approach to same-sex “marriage”.

But last month the chain began selling same-sex “marriage” wedding cards, and they have supported pride parades in Minneapolis for a number of years. In May, Target sold gay pride t-shirts ad gave the proceeds to the Family Equality Council, a homosexual political advocacy group.

Thank the Boy Scouts of America for their stand

(AFA) The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) reaffirmed its longstanding policy of protecting youth by not allowing homosexuals to serve as volunteer leaders.

According to OneNewsNow, an 11-member special committee, formed discretely by top Scout leaders in 2010, "came to the conclusion that this policy is absolutely the best policy for the Boy Scouts," the organization`s national spokesman, Deron Smith, told The Associated Press.

The Boy Scouts have been bullied relentlessly by homosexual activist groups since 2000, when the Supreme Court ruled the organization could set its own rules regarding leadership.

The Boy Scout Oath
"On my honor, I will do my best To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; To help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight."

This week, homosexual activists say they will deliver a petition to BSA headquarters in Irving, Texas, condemning the Boy Scouts for Youth Protection Training policies specifically designed to protect young boys from men who are sexually attracted to males.

I think we can top that! Will you join me by letting the BSA know you support them? And...by forwarding this to your family and friends and encouraging them to take action too!

War On Chick-Fil-A Gets Government Sizzle

(WorldNetDaily) A scorching letter against Chick-fil-A by the mayor of Boston, Mass., went viral today on Facebook, as the city’s elected leader is making no secret about humiliating the restaurant chain for its opposition to same-sex marriage.

In his message addressed to Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy, Democrat Mayor Thomas Menino said: “I was angry to learn on the heels of your prejudiced statements about your search for a site to locate in Boston. There is no place for discrimination on Boston’s Freedom Trail and no place for your company alongside it.”

Huckabee, a 2008 Republican presidential candidate, invited Americans to join him Wednesday, Aug. 1, for a “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.” Some supporters are advocating showing support every Wednesday.

After reading what he had written, a doping official told him he had to list a real person. Hall told the official, "He is a real person."

Women, men not interchangeable in combat

(OneNewsNow)  A conservative military watchdog is praising a female Marine Corps captain for boldly expressing her concerns about integrating women into frontline combat units.

As reported earlier on OneNewsNow, the Marine Corps has begun a program that will allow select female Marine officers to participate in a few months of training at the Marine Infantry Officer Course at Quantico, Virginia. But in the July 2012 Marine Corps Gazette, Capt. Katie Petronio published an op-ed piece titled "Get Over It! We Are Not All Created Equal," in which she describes the physical problems she encountered during her two combat deployments as an engineer officer.

In an interview on CNN, she asserted that putting females in the infantry will affect combat readiness.

Atheist`s son: Prayer Needed In Classrooms

(WorldNetDaily) Prayer is needed in America’s schools, not just for the moral teachings, but because it represents the authority of God, according to William Murray, son of the nation’s most famous atheist, Madalyn Murray O’Hair.

“This is more than the national motto; it was meant to be the real source of authority for our government. If rights come from God they cannot be taken away, but if they come from government, a simple majority vote can void those rights,” he continued. “Fifty years ago prayer and Bible reading represented the authority of God over the school, the teachers and the students. Bowing of heads in the morning for prayer was much more about surrendering to the authority of God than about learning ‘morals.’

But Murray, also the chairman of the Washington-based Religious Freedom Coalition, notes, “Many today, even those who want to return the ‘opportunity to pray’ at school, do not understand that it was not just prayer that was removed from those buildings – it was the righteous authority of God.

Brazil`s `March for Jesus` Makes History

(CBN News) More than 1 million evangelical Christians participated in the annual "March for Jesus" in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Saturday -- one of the largest Christian events in the world, according to organizers.

Hundreds of believers from Protestant and non-denominational churches took part in the march, which also included music and inspiration messages from several pastors.

Many see the "March for Jesus" turnout as evidence of Brazil`s growing Christian population.

According to the 2010 census, evangelical Christians in the nation jumped from 6.6 percent to 22.2 percent.

Christianity is also the fastest growing religious segment in Brazil and a Pew study found that as of 2011, Brazil is the world`s second most Christian-populated country.

Billy Graham Says His Heart Aches for `Deceived` America

(ChristianPost) The Rev. Billy Graham has posted a new prayer letter on his website where he addresses the people of the nation and tells them he is very much afraid of the damage that the American lifestyle is doing in the eyes of the Lord.

The 93-year-old evangelist begins his letter by recalling an incident a few years ago when his wife, Ruth, who has since passed away, remarked that "If God doesn`t punish America, He`ll have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah," referring to the cities in the Old Testament destroyed for the sinful nature of their residents.

"I wonder what Ruth would think of America if she were alive today. In the years since she made that remark, millions of babies have been aborted and our nation seems largely unconcerned. Self-centered indulgence, pride, and a lack of shame over sin are now emblems of the American lifestyle," Graham remarks.

"Our society strives to avoid any possibility of offending anyone – except God," Graham says. "Yet the farther we get from God, the more the world spirals out of control."

The trouble with Girl Scouts...

(OneNewsNow) Concerned former Girl Scout families have created a three-part video series exposing a troubling promotion of abortion and sexual information by the organization.

Christy Volanski is the mother of two former Girl Scouts who created the website for Speak Now Girl Scouts. She says that the videos call attention to the objectionable nature of some of the material in the Girl Scout curriculum.

"In the Girl Scouts` curricula called The Journey Series, they frequently promote pro-abortion role models and resources to the girls -- as well as through their Girl Scouts blog they`re linking girls to resources promoting explicit sexual content, which we find extremely concerning and problematic," she tells OneNewsNow.

Focus on the Family Launches Voter Registration Effort

(CitizenLink) Six organizations are working together to make a difference in the November election — and they’re doing it by reaching out to their own constituents, in the largest collaborative effort in the history of the pro-family movement.

Commit2Vote2012 is a joint project between Focus on the Family, Americans United for Life, the Susan B. Anthony List, National Right to Life Committee, Family Research Council and the American Principles Project. The groups are examining their mailing lists to identify all the people connected with the organizations who are not registered to vote.

The combined list was sent to a vendor, which eliminated duplications and incorrect addresses, then checked it against national voting rolls. The result was a list of just over five million unregistered voters nationwide.

Miami Pastor May Lose Church Lease Over Sound Sermon

Jack Hakimian, pastor of Impact Miami Church, preached the Biblical position on homosexuality, which was well within his First Amendment rights. But the sermon allegedly violates the district’s anti-bullying and non-discrimination policy.

“The reason why I am dealing with [homosexuality] so much is because there is an aggressive approach by… gay theologians that says the Bible never spoke about homosexuality in a way that contemporary Christians understand it,” Hakimian says.

Ambulance arrives at Illinois Planned Parenthood for second patient on same day

(LifeSiteNews) A second woman appears to have been injured at an Illinois Planned Parenthood in a likely botched abortion on Saturday, in addition to a young woman who died from the procedure the same day, reports a national pro-life group.

The League’s Ann Scheidler reported that no one was removed from the clinic or transported in the ambulance. “But given that it was a Saturday morning, [Planned Parenthood’s] busiest abortion time, and they felt something was wrong enough to call for an ambulance, it seems most likely that something went awry with an abortion,” she wrote.

Later that evening, 24-year-old abortion patient Tonya Reaves was rushed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead following a procedure at the Planned Parenthood of Illinois in Chicago. An autopsy the same day determined that Reaves died from hemorrhage following a dilation and evacuation abortion, a procedure not performed until after the first trimester.

Exposure to sexual content in popular movies predicts sexual behavior in adolescence: study

(LifeSiteNews) Researchers at New Hampshire’s Dartmouth College are urging parents to protect their children from sexual content in films as they release a new six-year study that found viewing such content has a significant impact on the sexual behaviour of young adults.

“Adolescents who are exposed to more sexual content in movies start having sex at younger ages,” says Dr. Ross O’Hara, adding that they also tend to have “more sexual partners” and indulge in risky sexual behaviour

For 57 percent of American adolescents between the ages of 14 and 16, the media is their greatest source of sexual information. They often don’t differentiate between what they see on the screen and what they must confront in daily life.

Female Prayer Warriors Issue Call for US Intercession

(CharismaNews) The platform of the American Prayer Initiative is a simple one. It is to inspire people to “return to the God upon whom this country was founded."

The operative word here is prayer.

A website, americanprayerinitiative.org, was set up with a 31-day calendar that prompts individuals to pray 60 seconds each day of every month on a specific topic until Election Day, Nov. 6.

Prayer topics include life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, as the Declaration of Independence suggests; as well as justice, domestic tranquility, defense, the general welfare and the blessings of liberty, as the Preamble to the Constitution denotes.

The main goal of the American Prayer Initiative, however, is to help America return to its core values set down in the 18th century by the Founding Fathers.

NBC`s `The New Normal` - Not Normal

(OMM) The Comcast owned NBC network will air a new show this fall called "The New Normal" with the subtitles "A post-modern family" and "She`s Having Their Baby." NBC`s website describes the program as: "These days, families come in all forms - single dads, double moms, sperm donors, egg donors, one-night-stand donors... It`s 2012 and anything goes. Bryan and David are a Los Angeles couple and they have it all. Well, almost. With successful careers and a committed and loving partnership, the one thing missing is a baby."

To sum it up, this show is about a homosexual couple who hires a surrogate to have their baby. The season premiere is scheduled for Tuesday, September 11 at 9:30/8:30 p.m. Central. It is no surprise that openly gay Ryan Murphy, is one of the executive producers and director, who also brought us "American Horror Story," "GLEE," and "Nip/Tuck."

NBC is using public airwaves to continue to subject families to the decay of morals and values, and the sanctity of marriage in attempting to redefine marriage. These things are harmful to our society, and this program is damaging to our culture.

OMM is prepared to contact any and all sponsors of this program if it is aired. It is proven this strategy works! It was not too long ago that NBC announced "The Playboy Club" was canceled after only three episodes because of lack of advertisers!

Millions of Americans strongly believe that marriage should be between one man and one woman. NBC`s "The New Normal" is attempting to desensitize America and our children. It is the opposite of how families are designed and created. You cannot recreate the biological wheel.

An email letter is prepared for you to send to Comcast and NBC officials and encourage them to reconsider the airing of their show titled "The New Normal."

US Olympic Boxer Claressa Shields: `God Has a Plan for Me`

(Christian Post)  Seventeen-year-old U.S. Olympic team boxer Claressa Shields prays in her corner of the ring before every fight.

Dubbed by boxing experts as a superstar in the making, Shields was 26-0 before suffering her first loss on her way to qualifying for the Olympics in London.

"When she lost for the first time in her life she prayed very hard," says photographer Sue Jaye Johnson, who is on a film production team along with two others documenting her journey to and at the Olympics.

"She emerged from that experience feeling like God was trying to send her a message. That she needed to experience a loss and not take anything for granted," Johnson told The Christian Post.

Upon learning on May 18 that she qualified for the Olympics, Shields told USA Boxing, "The first thing I thought was thank you God, I`m so, so happy. You are there, you are hearing me."

It is the first time in Olympics history that women`s boxing will be a medal sport and Shields is the youngest U.S. boxer in 40 years.

House Committee Moves Fetal Pain Legislation Forward

(CitizenLink) The U.S. House Judiciary Committee today passed on an 18-14 vote the D.C. Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, which makes late-term abortion in the District of Columbia a crime.

Democrats said the bill is “patently unconstitutional” and “an attempt to overturn Roe v. Wade” because women in the District have the ability to abort their children up to the “point of viability.” But Republicans maintained, throughout three hours of debate, that preborn children have the ability to feel acute pain at 20 weeks gestation.

Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., who sponsored the bill, rebuffed amendments seeking to expand it to allow late-term abortions to preserve the mother’s health. Instead, it says they will only be allowed to save her life.

Americans On No-Fly List Can Learn To Fly

(WorldNetDaily) U.S. citizens who are on the government’s list of people banned from flying because they’re considered terror threats are not prevented from learning how to fly in schools around the country, according to government regulation.

Such a person may have to drive across the country to learn how to fly a plane because he or she would likely be stopped from boarding a commercial airliner. But the security checks put in place after the 9/11 attacks will not keep the person from receiving pilot training.

The security loophole was raised during a hearing Wednesday to examine the Homeland Security Department’s programs to screen foreigners who want to attend flight schools in the U.S. Some of the 9/11 hijackers were able to learn to fly in the U.S. while living in the country illegally.

JC Penney stock tanking ... a coincidence?

(OneNewsNow) The American Family Association and OneMillionMoms.com say their efforts to educate people on JC Penney`s aggressive national campaign to promote "gay marriage" are being successful.

Court Upholds Florida Voter ID Law

(CitizenLink) The Obama administration agreed late last week to allow Florida to use a database maintained by the Department of Homeland Security to purge its voter rolls of noncitizens before the November election.

Until then, the U.S. Department of Justice had been suing to block Florida’s efforts, saying they violate voting rights laws, but relented after a federal judge ruled in the state’s favor.

The database will allow the state to eliminate those with provisional statuses — such as those with visas or green cards — from the voter rolls, since only fully naturalized citizens have the right to vote. But it falls short of helping the state prevent illegal immigrants from voting, since they are not registered in the database.

Convicted gay sex offender loses initial bid to muzzle pro-family website MassResistance

(LifeSiteNews) A convicted sex abuser who has filed a one million dollar suit against the pro-family group Mass Resistance suffered a setback last week when his motion for a preliminary injunction to silence the group was rejected by the presiding judge.

“Maine may not punish, through criminal sanction, an individual’s actions that are protected by the free speech clause of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution,” wrote District Judge Patricia G. Worth in her decision, signed on July 11.

Flanders, a Belfast, Maine homosexual who was convicted in 2008 of sexual abuse of a minor and sentenced to three months in jail, has been seeking to force Mass Resistance to remove from its website a copy of a letter Flanders wrote in 2007, accusing a local homosexual “youth group” of facilitating the sexual abuse and exploitation of minors. It also describes Flanders’ own relationships with minors in the group after he had turned 18.

While acknowledging the restraining order that she had recently approved against Camenker, Worth was not willing to muzzle Mass Resistance, noting, “An individual’s right to free speech loses its protection when the speech uttered constitutes libel, a true threat, or fighting words,” adding the “Plaintiff has failed to demonstrate ... that the writings rise to the level of fighting words (inciting an immediate, violent reaction). or a. ‘true . ..threat.’”

Religious Freedom Reigns in Texas School Flier Showdown

(CharismaNews) A Texas elementary school teacher was standing in the way of little children meeting Jesus. But a religious freedom lawsuit has caused the school to rethink its policy.

Other students were freely permitted to distribute invitations for events such as birthday parties.

However, with the recent increase in bullying, especially in the public school systems, parents that were interviewed for Homeschool Television view bullying as a major safety crisis for their children physically and emotionally.

CLASS Act Falls Short

Kevin Snider, Chief Counsel to Pacific Justice Institute and the author of the wording for the CLASS Act noted, "Placing a measure on the ballot through grassroots efforts alone has not been done in California in recent memory. Although history was against us, our conscience compelled the coalition to fight this battle rather than doing nothing."

The CLASS Act was designed to counter the effects of SB48 that was signed into law in 2011 and began being implemented in January of this year. SB48, described by its proponents as a further crackdown on discrimination and bullying, requires that social science classes beginning at kindergarten add curriculum that is positive toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and other minority figures. But the law also prohibits curriculum that "reflects adversely" on these same groups.

The CLASS Act initiative was designed to strike a balance in what is taught in social science classes. CLASS provided that no person could be excluded from the history books merely because of membership in a "protected class", but no person would be included in the history books merely because of their sexual preference.

Many of the coalition members backing the CLASS Act were involved in an earlier effort to qualify a referendum to overturn SB48. Like the current drive to qualify the initiative, the coalition relied on volunteers as opposed to paying signature gatherers and fell short of the more than a half million signatures required.

Snider said, "This campaign was a struggle to protect the children of our State. While the failure to gather the necessary signatures may be a disappointment, giving up on the most vulnerable members of our society would be unforgivable."

Snider hinted at future efforts by the coalition aimed at mitigating the negative effects of SB48 but did not give details.

The coalition thanked each person, church and organization for the sacrificial efforts made in gathering signatures and contributing money to the campaign. The coalition and supporters of the CLASS Act included Calvary Chapel Chino Hills, Faith and Public Policy, Capitol Resource Institute, Advocates for Faith and Freedom, Pacific Justice Institute, The National Center for Law and Policy, Traditional Values Coalition, Korean Gospel Broadcast Company, Organization for Justice and Equality, United Families International, Alliance Defense Fund, Family Research Council, and Concerned Women for America.

Sears has a problem telling the truth

(American Family Association) After our last Action Alert in May, Sears assured AFA it was updating filtering equipment and enforcing strict guidelines to prevent sexually explicit products being available on their websites.

AFA took Sears spokesmen at their word and...we shouldn`t have. Sears made the same promise in 2010. They broke their word then too.

Less than two months after Sears` latest promise in May 2012, the pornography has returned.

But that`s not the worst of it. Sears also sells books on bestiality and zoophilia. Titled "Dearest Pet, On Bestiality" and "Bestiality and Zoophilia: Sexual Relations with Animals," these books are "how to" manuals for people who want to have sex with animals. I don`t want to be too graphic, but they contain descriptions, drawings and sketches beyond belief.

I hope you will take my word for it, but if you must see the proof, AFA has set up a Sears product sample page. Warning: the material is extremely graphic and offensive, although it has been edited by us.

Technology allows Sears to remove and stop selling these products within minutes, if company executives want to.

Recently, AFA twice asked for a face-to-face meeting (at our expense), so we could share our concerns in person. Both times, Sears specifically said its people did not want to meet with AFA.

Take Action

Unless Sears hears from you, the company will continue to sell hardcore pornography. If you can only do one thing, please:

Make a personal phone call to Sears, so your concerns are clearly understood. Call Sears` corporate headquarters directly and urge Chairman Edward Lampert to keep his company`s word to stop selling pornography. The number is 847-286-2500.

Lawyer of Jailed Pastor in Home Bible Study Case Speaks Out

(The Christian Post) The lawyer of Michael Salman, the Arizona pastor who is in jail after holding Bible studies at his home, appeared Wednesday on the show "FOX & Friends" to argue why his client is a victim of religious discrimination. Salman`s wife Suzanne also made an appearance on the show to express her disbelief at the entire situation.

John Whitehead of The Rutherford Institute, which is representing Michael Salman, told host Steve Doocy that Salman`s constitutional rights are being violated.

"The key is – the Constitution guarantees the right to freedom of religion … the right to assemble and talk to each other wherever you want to be – in public or in your home," he said.

Salman reported to jail on Monday after a Phoenix court found him guilty of 67 code violations in connection to a building where he hosts a weekly Bible study group. Salman was sentenced to 60 days in jail, three years probation and fined $12,180.

Michael Salman, an ordained pastor of Church of God in Christ and founder of Harvest Christian Fellowship, has argued that he has the right to worship at home on his private property. However, the City of Phoenix has insisted the issue is about zoning and code violations, not religious freedom.

California’s Scorched Earth Policy Toward Marriage

(Townhall) From the moment the push to redefine marriage began, the most militant of the would-be redefiners deployed a “scorched earth policy” toward marriage to achieve their goals. In other words, they proved willing not just to alter, but also to destroy marriage and the family in order to establish conditions where they could reconstruct marriage – and all of society – according to their own designs.

And part of this scorched earth policy, as we’re now seeing it in California, is the effort to recognize more than two parents for children.

That’s right—SB 1476, a bill that gives judges the power to pretend that a child could have “three or more” parents—has made it through the state Senate and is now with the Assembly. And once a child has two mothers and a dad or two dads and mother, how small is the step to allowing the two moms to “marry” or the two dads to “marry”?

Politics and Children`s Movies Don`t Mix

(CharismaNews) When social commentary is injected into a movie, the mood changes for everyone. For the child, the movie becomes un-relatable and boring. For the parent, it’s even worse. They feel deceived or even betrayed. Imagine taking a child to a movie for pure entertainment and being blindsided by a political campaign. A group of strangers sitting in a boardroom has tried to grab the proverbial reins and steer their child for them. This is nothing short of an insult to parents, and it leaves a bad taste in their mouth for the next movie.

So if parents don’t want Hollywood lecturing their children, but they do want entertainment that instills good values, well then, good gracious! What is an enormously wealthy, technologically superior, media super power to do? I told you their job was hard.

I think the answer lies in the difference between morality and politics. Whereas a person’s morality based mindset has a “do vs. don’t” attitude, the legally bound, civil rights concerned political mind sees mostly “don’ts.”  For example, the political worldview says...

Abortion strategy discounts Sunday abortions

(OneNewsNow) More and more abortion clinics are offering Sunday abortions, and even discounting those abortions. One pro-life activist says this strategy is in response to the effectiveness of the pro-life movement.

Some of the facilities are offering discounts for women obtaining abortions on Sundays, but Eric Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League believes he knows the reason why.

"... I think it`s a sign of how effective the pro-life movement has been, especially people of faith, in reaching out to abortion-bound women outside of abortion centers that the abortion clinics are now trying to shift some of their business to Sunday when faithful pro-lifers are most often busy with church services and family activities," he tells OneNewsNow.

But Scheidler believes the pro-life movement has become increasingly effective in responding to what he describes as "cynical ploys" by the abortion industry.

Marriage Institute: APA Statement Deeply Flawed

(CitizenLink) When the American Psychological Association (APA) announced its support for same-sex marriage last year, the news made headlines nationwide, with journalists assuming the support was based in sound scientific research.

According to a new analysis from the Institute for Marriage and Public Policy (IMAPP), those journalists assumed too much.

“Rather than being based on a powerful body of research, all but one of these (17) statements are couched in highly speculative (terms) using modifiers like ‘capacity’ or ‘may,’” the IMAPP authors concluded of the APA’s 81 cited references. “The other is the claim that not creating same-sex marriage stigmatizes gay people. There is nothing in the findings about the benefits of same-sex marriage for gay people or children or society.”

According to the analysis, the APA’s Council of Representatives started with a position, and then chose studies that supported it, rather than letting the research direct its stance on the issue. In fact, some of the studies the group cites contradict that position, and most rely on weak or self-reported samples.

US Defense Department Censoring Opposition to Military`s Gay Policy?

(ChristianPost) The public`s perception of the military since the repeal of "Don`t ask, don`t tell" (DADT) less than a year ago is being manipulated by the U.S. Department of Defense, says the director of a chaplain alliance group.

The military department is censoring opposing views to portray a trouble-free time after the repeal of the policy that barred openly gay, lesbian, or bisexual persons from the military for nearly 18 years, according to Chaplain (Col.) Ron Crews, executive director for the Chaplain Alliance for Religious Liberty. Also, chaplains working with commanders to diffuse problems are another reason for the relative calm.

"Part of the impression that is now in the public has been caused by the Department of the Defense refusal to allow chaplains and other service members who have expressed problems with this repeal," Crews, USAR retired, told The Christian Post. "They have denied them the opportunity to speak openly about these problems while at the same time, Department of the Defense officials are highlighting how this repeal has benefitted soldiers and military personnel who engage in homosexuality."

Sovereign-Citizen Claim Fails In Court

(WorldNetDaily) No license, no registration … No Social Security Number?

A woman convicted of traffic violations this week in Charlotte County has none of the above; she’s what law enforcement considers a Sovereign Citizen.

The NBC2 Investigators found out law enforcement is watching the Sovereign Movement closely.

Soft-spoken in court, Linda Louise debates just about everything.

“It’s my understanding that there’s nothing to prohibit me from traveling,” Louise said in court.

Visiting Missionaries Draw Ire of Parents Over VBS Invitation

(CharismaNews) A simple invitation to a Vacation Bible School in New York City has turned into a battle of theology between a Baptist church and parents of children from a local elementary school.

With the help of a youth group from South Carolina in New York doing missionary work, Sixth Avenue Baptist Church recently handed out flyers promoting the Vacation Bible School to children of Slope Elementary School as the children were leaving school grounds.

The gesture provoked outrage from parents accompanying the children partly because of the church’s opposition to gay marriage.

The controversy took Sixth Avenue Baptist Church pastor Richard Johnson by surprise.

“It’s really sad that a group like the gay and lesbian crowd that preaches a message of tolerance can be so very intolerant of somebody else that may happen to have a little bit of a different view,” Johnson told Fox News Radio. “There are some who are opposed to the message of Christianity and we understand that—but they took it to the next step and verbally attacked us—when we did not pick a fight.”

British deputy prime minister: Force churches to conduct ‘gay marriages’

(LifeSiteNews) Some British churchmen have said they believe that, should the government create “gay marriage,” groups will inevitably be forced to participate. Today, Nick Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister and leader of the Liberal Democrat party, appeared to confirm these predictions when he said that “at the moment,” it is his opinion that homosexual partners should be allowed to conduct wedding ceremonies in churches.

Clegg told the London Evening Standard during the global Gay Pride events, “This is a personal view at the moment, but I think that in exactly the same way that we shouldn’t force any church to conduct gay marriage, we shouldn’t stop any church that wants to conduct gay marriage.

Homeschoolers Stage March To Exile

(WorldNetDaily) Dozens of Swedish home educators will walk 100 miles from the town of Asko to Stockholm then board a ferry to the nearby Aland Islands, a self-governing territory controlled by Finland, to highlight the plight of homeschool families under persecution in Sweden.

A spokesman for a leading international advocate for education freedom and homeschooling said many families already have fled Sweden because of the crackdown on rights

“Families should not have to choose between love for their children and love for their homeland,” said Michael Donnelly, director of international relations for the Home School Legal Defense Association.

Testimonials in a video about the march express concern that Sweden “more or less is denying people their human rights” and is “creating its own set of refugees.”

The video notes that while it is not comparing the current Swedish regime to Hitler, it was under Hitler that such a law first was adopted.

Judge continues to block Mississippi abortion law

(OneNewsNow) A federal judge on Wednesday decided to continue to block a state law that threatened to shut down Mississippi`s only abortion clinic and make it nearly impossible for a woman to get the procedure in the state.

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that states can`t place undue burdens or substantial obstacles to women seeking abortion. The law would require anyone performing clinic abortions to be an OB-GYN with privileges to admit patients to a local hospital. The doctors at the clinic in Jackson do not have those privileges, and the clinic says the privileges aren`t medically necessary.

Supporters of the law say it`s designed to protect patients. Republican Gov. Phil Bryant says he hopes it will help make Mississippi "abortion-free."

More reason to reinforce abstinence education

(OneNewsNow) According to a new House subcommittee report, abstinence education is a better approach to preventing teen pregnancy than is comprehensive sex education.

National Abstinence Education Association (NAEA) director Valerie Huber says the report from the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee reinforces the conclusion of a separate report her organization released a month earlier.

"This was not just written by a member of Congress, and it didn`t just emanate out of any committee," she details. "The fact that this report came from the committee in the House where policy for sex education emanates is very, very important."

The NAEA director adds that 75 percent of 15- to 17-year-olds have reportedly never had sex. She believes that is a trend the federal sex-education policy should reinforce.

Episcopal bishops approve blessing for gay unions: Convention approves transgender clergy

(LifeSiteNews) Yesterday, the House of Bishops of the Episcopalian Church approved a new provisional blessing for gay unions, while the full General Convention voted in favor of general acceptance for transgender clergy.

The votes are likely to drive a further wedge between the Episcopalian Church and the Worldwide Anglican Communion, which has been torn apart in recent years by the debate about homosexuality.

In a separate vote, the Episcopal House of Deputies approved “anti-discrimination language” for transgendered clergy candidates, making clear the church-wide acceptance of ordination of “transgender” persons.

Reverend David Thurlow, a member of the committee, also advocated rejecting the resolution. “For two thousand years the Church has had clear teaching regarding Christian marriage and Biblical norms of sexual behavior,” he said, pointing out that “through previous statements and resolutions the Church has pledged itself not to make any change to this traditional teaching.”

He said the resolution represents “a clear break and departure” from doctrine, “introducing and acting upon a new theology of human sexuality inconsistent with the clear teaching of Scripture.”

More public schools splitting up boys, girls

(OneNewsNow) Robin Gilbert didn`t set out to confront gender stereotypes when she split up the boys and girls at her elementary school in rural southwestern Idaho.

But that`s exactly what happened, with her Middleton Heights Elementary now among dozens of public schools nationwide being targeted by the American Civil Liberties Union in a bitter struggle over whether single-sex learning should be continued. Under pressure, single-sex programs have been dropped at schools from Missouri to Louisiana.

Single-sex classes began proliferating after the U.S. Education Department relaxed restrictions in 2006. With research showing boys, particularly minority boys, are graduating at lower rates than girls and faring worse on tests, plenty of schools were paying attention.

Proponents argue the separation allows for a tailored instruction and cuts down on gender-driven distractions among boys and girls, such as flirting. But critics decry the movement as promoting harmful gender stereotypes and depriving kids of equal educational opportunities. The ACLU claims many schools offer the classes in a way that conflicts with the U.S. Constitution and Title IX, a federal law banning sex discrimination in education. Researchers also have weighed in.

California Legislators Consider Group-Parenting Measure

(CitizenLink) A bill that seeks to radically redefine the term “parent” is edging closer to becoming law in California.

SB 1476, authored by San Francisco Democrat Mark Leno, seeks to allow any number of adults to share legal custody of a child. The bill already passed the Senate and at least one committee in the General Assembly, and could soon come up for a floor vote.

According to the text, “This bill would, in the case of a child with more than 2 legal parents, require the court to allocate custody and visitation among the parents based on the best interest of the child, including stability for the child.”

Leno — who is openly homosexual — says his bill is meant to help children who have unconventional family arrangements, such as gay parents, as well as sperm donors and surrogate mothers. But California Family Policy Council Executive Director Ron Prentice said that’s not all it will do.

“Just about any bill that Senator Leno puts out specific to the nature of family really has behind it a bearing on deconstructing traditional marriage and traditional families,” he said. “His example is a woman who was involved in a lesbian relationship but separated and had a sexual tryst with a man, got pregnant, and so now all three adults should play ping-pong with this kid as the ball.”

Study: Kids Experiment With Drugs, Alcohol in Summer

(CitizenLink) Parents, if there’s ever a time to keep closer tabs on what your kids are doing while they’re at home and you’re at work, June and July would be it.

So says a study released today by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), indicating that kids between the ages of 12 and 17 are most likely to experiment with alcohol, tobacco and marijuana for the first time during the summer months.

“Monthly Variation in Substance Use Initiation Among Adolescents,” based on SAMHSA’s study of 231,500 teens from 2002 to 2010, showed that more than 11,000 of them tried alcohol for the first time in June, July, or December; in any other month, only 5,000 to 8,000 try it. The numbers for first-time smokers also peak in the summer months—5,000, compared to 3,000 to 4,000 during the rest of the year. And more than 4,500 kids will try marijuana for the first time during summer break, compared to 3,000 to 4,000 in any other month.

School retreats spotlight `kinky sex`

(WorldNetDaily) Men pretending to have homosexual intercourse, discussions of “kinky sex,” hats with plastic testicles and cross-dressing: It was all part of an official California public-school district retreat, a lawsuit says.

School administrators from the Lake Elsinore Unified School District have participated in the annual retreats since 2008, according to court documents.

The Press-Enterprise, a newspaper in Riverside, Calif., reported that an assistant principal has had enough, claiming she was the victim of sexual harassment, discrimination and a hostile work environment.

Kathryn Jones, 42, said the retreats were not optional; administrators were required to attend the events held at Coachella Valley hotels, where district leaders allowed and participated in the risqué behavior.

“You just shake your head at something like this,” Andrew Rosenberry, Jones’ attorney, told the paper. “The conduct is so outrageous.”

Personhood founder’s home attacked at night, children terrorized

(LifeSiteNews) From the gunning down of a pro-life picketer in Michigan in 2009, to the filmed attack on pro-lifers in New Mexico in 2011, to another filmed attack in Washington last week, violent assault against pro-life Americans are on the rise.

Another pro-lifer was attacked last Tuesday, but this time at his home, with his wife and children terrorized in the middle of the night.

Personhood USA Founder and President Keith Mason and his wife Jennifer have three young children from eight years old on down, and a fourth child due next month. That didn’t stop pro-abortion vandals from throwing a heavy rock through his front door window at 1:30 am, or from spraypainting his house with vulgarities and images of coat hangers.

“One of the early comments,” recalled Mason, “was that my wife should be raped and forced to carry the baby.” Another he remembered, called for him to be neutered and killed.

The comments continued to get more and more bizarre. And then someone posted the couple’s home address in the comment section of the story.

Gay Sensitivity-Training Bill Advances in California

(CitizenLink) If prospective parents want to help kids in California’s foster care system, they could soon be required to first spend 40 hours in the classroom learning how to become more sensitive to children who may be confused about their gender or sexual orientation.

That’s according to a measure, AB 1856, pending in the state Senate. The bill passed the General Assembly on a 49-25-6 vote May 3.

According to the text of the bill, authored by San Francisco Democrat Tom Ammiano and sponsored by California Equality — the state’s largest gay-activist group — the government “would require the training for an administrator of a group home facility, licensed foster parent, and relative or nonrelative extended family member caregiver, to also include instruction on cultural competency and sensitivity relating to, and best practices for, providing adequate care to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) youth in out-of-home care. … This bill would provide that foster children also have the right to have caregivers and child welfare personnel who have received instruction on cultural competency and sensitivity relating to, and best practices for, providing adequate care to LGBT youth in out-of-home care.”

Should the bill become law, author Dale O’Leary warned, not only will it likely drive Christian couples away from becoming foster parents, but could also have a serious impact on children struggling with their sexuality.

Egypt conducts 1st sex-slave marriage

(WorldNetDaily) Egypt’s “first sex-slave marriage” took place mere days after the Muslim Brotherhood’s Muhammad Morsi was made president.

Last Monday, on the Egyptian TV show Al Haqiqa (“the Truth”), journalist Wael al-Ibrashi showed a video-clip of a man, Abd al-Rauf Awn, “marrying” his slave. Before making the woman, who has a non-Egyptian accent, repeat after him the Koran’s Surat al-Ikhlas, instead of saying the usual “I marry myself to you,” the woman said “I enslave myself to you,” kissing him in front of an applauding audience.

Lawmaker: Model Public Schools After Muslim Ones

(WorldNetDaily) A U.S. lawmaker – who prides himself on being only the second Muslim elected to Congress – has declared that America “needs Muslims” and U.S. public schools should be modeled after Islamic madrassas, “where the foundation is the Quran.”

In a dramatic video dated May 26, U.S. Rep. Andre Carson, D-Ind., addressed an Islamic Circle of North America convention, saying the aftermath of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks was hard on Muslims and that Americans should look to Muslim schools for guidance.

“America will never tap into educational innovation and ingenuity without looking at the model that we have in our madrassas, in our schools, where innovation is encouraged, where the foundation is the Quran. And that model that we are pushing in some of our schools meets the multiple needs of students."

Pa. Atheist Files Complaint Against Restaurant Over Church Bulletin Discount

(ChristianPost) A Pennsylvania atheist has filed a complaint against a restaurant that offers a 10 percent discount for customers who provide a church bulletin on Sundays.

John Wolff filed a complaint against Prudhomme`s Lost Cajun Kitchen of Columbia to the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, arguing that the discount is discriminatory since he does not attend church.

Sharon Prudhomme, co-owner of the restaurant, told Lancaster Online in an interview that the discount had been around for about a year.

"Originally when I received these papers, at first I thought it was maybe a prank or joke," she commented. "It is our restaurant and we are marketing in many different ways, I felt strongly, I still feel strongly that there is nothing wrong with the discount."

Wolff, who has been involved in a group called Pennsylvania Nonbelievers, told local media that he first learned of the discount when looking at the website of the restaurant.

"That rubbed me a bit the wrong way. It`s not a big deal in itself and I have no animosity towards Prudhomme`s, but I do bear a grudge against a religious right that seems to intrude on our civil rights."

Bronx abortion clinic charged after evidence of illegal dumping found

(LifeSiteNews) An abortion clinic in the Bronx, New York, has been formally charged after evidence emerged that it was illegally dumping private medical information and aborted baby remains on a city sidewalk outside the abortion clinic.

In addition to the illegal dumping charges, Dr. Emily’s abortion clinic has lost its accreditation with the Joint Commission for Office Based Surgery, a national organization that boasts on its website that its accredited organizations meet certain performance standards.

“Dr. Emily’s abortion clinic is a repeat offender that has demonstrated a disregard for the law and public safety,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue and Pro-Life Nation.

“Bloody remains from aborted babies, used needles, and other dangerous material were dumped on a public sidewalk in a predominately residential neighborhood. People that care about public safety do not engage in that kind of appalling behavior.”

Has the normalizing of pedophilia begun?

(WorldNetDaily) Do people who rape children, or fantasize about sexually abusing them, deserve sympathy – because they were born with the brains of pedophiles?

That’s the question a prominent scientist and a well-known anchor at CNN have asked in the wake of the recent Jerry Sandusky scandal.

CNN recently featured a story by James Cantor, a homosexual psychologist and scientist at the Sexual Behaviors Clinic of the Center for Addiction and Mental Health who serves as associate professor of psychiatry at the University of Toronto.

“It appears that one can be born with a brain predisposed to experience sexual arousal in response to children,” he wrote in his CNN piece.

Just last year, Dr. Judith Reisman, the principal expert investigator for a U.S. Justice Department study on child sex abuse, said pedophilia advocates are using the same strategy that was successfully employed to make homosexuality a classroom subject for small children in the nation’s public schools.

Anti-SB 48 coalition `not going to go away`

(OneNewsNow) An activist working to overturn a California law that mandates positive teachings on alternate lifestyles says her coalition will not stop working, no matter the outcome.

The CLASS Act (Children Learning Accurate Social Sciences) would invalidate the California law that went into effect January 1, mandating the public school teachings of lesbian, "gay," bisexual and transgender contributions to society. Proponents of the effort are encouraged by the outpouring of support they have received from individuals from all walks of life.

"I think that we`ve seen a response from other churches and organizations that didn`t participate in the last campaign, so that`s a positive thing," she reports.

But regardless of what happens, Gleason asserts that the coalition will not give up. "Should we not qualify, well then that`s going to cause us to sit down again and strategize and pray and determine what the next step is. Should we fail, we`re not going to stop. We`re not going to go away," she pledges. "All of these issues that we`re faced with in California we have to address."
