The Scandal of Biblical Illiteracy: It’s Our Problem

(Albert Mohler) While America’s evangelical Christians are rightly concerned about the secular worldview’s rejection of biblical Christianity, we ought to give some urgent attention to a problem much closer to home–biblical illiteracy in the church. This scandalous problem is our own, and it’s up to us to fix it.  (Read More)

Attacks on Women in Cologne Highlight Double Standard of Multiculturalism

(CNSNews) The horrendous attacks on women in Cologne, Germany, on New Year’s Eve have exposed a deep crack in the façade of radical multiculturalism. On one side are radical feminists who argue that sexism, no matter how innocently expressed, must be vigorously repressed. On the other are the mavens of racial and ethnic identity politics who preach that Muslim refugees must be exempt from too much censure for sexual assault, lest we be guilty of “Islamophobia.”  (Read More)

The Christian Educator Behind Teachers’ Fight for Free Speech at the Supreme Court

(Daily Signal) The U.S. Supreme Court heard about 80 minutes of oral arguments Monday in the case known as Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association. Rebecca Friedrichs, the lead plaintiff in the case, is a member of Christian Educators Association International.

Attorneys for the small association and the individual teachers argued that California’s “agency shop” law violates the plaintiffs’ free speech rights under the First Amendment. From the IRS, Clarity on Charity

(FRC) Common sense isn`t exactly a common theme at the IRS. But the year is off to a surprisingly good start at Americans` least favorite agency now that officials have put the kibosh on a ridiculous charitable donation idea. Early last month, we told you about a worrisome new proposal from the IRS that would give 501(c)(3) organizations (like FRC) "the option" of doing away with their written acknowledgements of donations over $250 and consider sending all of their donors` personal information to the agency instead. (Read More)

For the Mouth of the Lord Hath Spoken It: The Real Meaning of Handel’s “Messiah”

(Albert Mohler) Though his work is almost universally known within the English-speaking world, Charles Jennens is virtually unknown. He was a brilliant librettist — a writer of texts to be put to music by others. Born in the year 1700, Jennens inherited his father’s vast estate and wealth, attended Oxford University, and became a gentleman scholar.
