Reporters who watched abortion reveal its horrors

(Life Site News)  Sometimes authors of magazines are allowed to witness abortions in the course of writing articles. Sometimes medical students who never had an opinion on abortion come to grips with the procedure after viewing one. People who observe abortion procedures or abortion remains usually come away with little doubt that abortion is killing a human being.

Author Verlyn Klinkenborg of Harper’s Magazine visited an abortion clinic for a 1995 article. After viewing the remains of an abortion at ten weeks, he wrote the following (1):

I felt a profound and unmistakable kinship with the foot and hand in the tray, a kinship so strong it was like the rolling of the sea under my feet[.] … I was surprised by my own sadness, by the sense of loss that I felt[.] … I found it so much easier to be moved by the sight of the disembodied hand the size of a question mark gleaming under fluorescent lights. … In that tiny, naked hand there was the imputation of innocence.

Justice Department enjoys close relationship with anti-Christian hate group: documents

(Life Site News)  Documents uncovered from a Freedom of Information Act request show the Obama administration`s Department of Justice enjoys a close relationship with the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), an organization that brands principled opposition to homosexuality “hate.”

The SPLC has built an elaborate fundraising empire by branding mainstream Christian ministries – including the American Family Association, the Family Research Council, and Concerned Women for America – as “hate groups” for opposing homosexuality.

The legal watchdog Judicial Watch filed the request to see what effect SPLC`s designation of “hate groups” had on the government. The two-dozen pages of e-mails it received reveal views of DOJ employees that border on adulation.

Doctor insists parents choose starvation and slow death for baby born with cleft lip

How many other doctors instruct new parents to leave their newborns to die or wallow in an institution for the rest of their lives?

Woman conceived in rape calls out pro-lifers over rape exceptions

(Life Site News)  Pro-life leader Rebecca Kiessling, who was conceived in rape when her mother was abducted at knifepoint, says pro-lifers are guilty of discrimination if they are willing to compromise by including exceptions for rape in pro-life legislation.

Speaking at the Law of Life Summit in Washington, D.C. the day before the 40th annual March for Life, she lamented that “so many people, pro-life people … think nothing of discriminating against children who are conceived in rape.”

“Let me tell you, to those who think that sometimes you just need to compromise: we are not cannon fodder,” said Kiessling, who is a national spokesperson for Personhood USA and an attorney with Alliance Defending Freedom. “You do not get to put us out on the front lines and take a giant step back, and you do not discriminate.”

The question of exceptions such as rape and incest divides pro-life leaders. Many argue for restricting abortion as much as possible, even if it means passing imperfect laws that the movement would not pursue as an end goal.

European Court ruling a major blow to religious freedom: experts

(Life Site News)  LONDON - Christian and conservative legal experts and observers are warning that a recent decision from the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) could spell the effective end of religious freedom in Britain. The court ruled last week on four cases brought by Christians who said their employers had discriminated against them because of their beliefs.

Gregor Puppinck, the lead counsel for the European Centre for Law and Justice, an ECHR watchdog group, called the ruling a “significant step back for freedom of conscience and religion in Europe.”

The European Court of Human Rights

In one of the four cases, the ECHR ruled in favor of the complainant, saying that British Airways must allow her to wear a small cross necklace at work.

However, in the three remaining cases the court ruled against the complainants. In one case a nurse was told that she had to comply with a demand that she remove the cross that she had worn under her uniform. In the remaining two, more significant cases, the ECHR said the two complainants had no right to refuse to participate in same-sex civil partnerships or to refuse to counsel homosexual couples.

Former Special Forces Commander: Was U.S. Running Guns to Syrian Rebels Via Benghazi? CIA: No

(CNS News)  Retired Army Lt. Gen. William G. Boykin—who is the former commander of the U.S. Special Forces Command, the former deputy undersecretary of defense for intelligence and who, in the 1990s, worked with the CIA—told CNSNews.com in a video interview last week that he believes it is a reasonable supposition that the U.S. was supporting or planning to support the Syrian rebels via Benghazi, Libya.

The CIA, however, says Boykin’s supposition is erroneous and that the U.S. was not conducting or planning covert action to support Syrian rebels through Benghazi.

“These assertions are both baseless and flat wrong,” a CIA spokesperson told CNSNews.com on Tuesday.

Boykin, who retired from the Army in 2007, believes that such an action, or planned action, would help explain why Amb. Chris Stevens was in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012, visiting that city for the first time since he had departed from it in November 2011 after having served there as a special envoy to the Libyan rebels who overthrew the Qaddafi regime.

NBC Poll Claiming Americans Favor Roe is Grossly Misleading

(Life News)  On the 40th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the supporters of abortion in the mainstream media are working overtime to push their dishonest message to the public. A new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll showing alleged public support for Roe v. Wade – the headline screams “Majority, for first time, want abortion to be legal” – is a prime example of how the mainstream media often manipulates facts, data, and people.

The most objectionable point of the poll is found in its depiction on NBC News’ website. According to Mark Murray, NBC News’ Senior Political Editor, “[t]he 1973 Roe v. Wade decision established a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion, at least in the first three months of pregnancy.”

The poll itself depicted the Supreme Court decision the same way: “The Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe versus Wade decision established a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion, at least in the first three months of pregnancy.”

This is a gross depiction of the real facts of Roe v. Wade. As James Agresti, President of Just Facts, pointed out just days ago in taking down the recent Pew poll on public support for Roe:

The Inter-American Court of Human Rights condones killing unborn children in Latin America

(Life Site News)  A few days before Christmas, the inter-American Court of Human Rights (IAHR Court) issued the worst judgment in its history. The case concerned Costa Rica’s law banning in-vitro fertilization, or IVF, but the judgment went far beyond this. The IAHR Court’s decision severely limited the legal protection enjoyed by the unborn that heretofore had been the pride and distinction of the people of Latin America. Many specialists in international law believe that the Court acted in an arbitrary and excessive fashion.Strictly speaking, the Court should not even have taken the IVF case at all. IVF is not even mentioned in the Court’s governing document, the American Convention on Human Rights. By taking the case, the Court vastly exceeded the limits of its jurisdiction.

The ruling itself is equally problematic. The American Convention on Human Rights, also known as the Pact of San José, clearly states in Article 4 that life is protected from the moment of conception. Abortion has always been considered a crime in Latin America.

Yet five judges of the IACHR, in an act of raw judicial tyranny, decided to reinterpret Article 4. Ignoring the scientific evidence, they decreed that a child can only be recognized as such after implantation, not at conception. To make matters worse, the Court went on to rule that the protection afforded the unborn child by law is not absolute. Rather, it depends entirely on what rights the Court chooses to recognize. Equally troubling, the judges added that within that body of rights are "reproductive rights," although they didn’t bother to define what these are.

30,000 pro-lifers rally in Dublin: tell Irish PM, ‘Keep your promise. No abortion in Ireland.’

(Life Site News)  DUBLIN – Tens of thousands thronged the streets of Dublin outside the country’s parliament on Friday night to demand that the Fine Gael/Labour coalition government keep a campaign promise to keep Ireland abortion-free. Demonstrators came from around the country for the vigil and rally, the highlight of which was a phone call to the Prime Minister’s office in which 30,000 people chorused, “Enda, Keep Your Promise.”

Dr. Eoghan de Faoite, a rally organiser, made the call on his mobile phone to Enda Kenney’s office, saying, “Hello an Taoiseach, this is the Vigil for Life, and I have 30,000 people here to give you a reminder of the pro-life promise you made in 2011.”

De Faoite said later, “The vigil has been a tremendously powerful and historic event, and the voice of the majority has been heard for the protection of both mother and baby.”

The rally in Merrion Square was organised by the country’s leading pro-life activist group Youth Defence in the face of apparent government determination to introduce legislation that would allow “limited” abortion.

Obama: `Our journey is not complete` until we redefine marriage

(Life Site News)  President Barack Obama forcefully advanced the homosexual agenda in his second inaugural address this afternoon, saying redefining marriage must be enacted “by [God`s] people here on earth."

“We, the people, declare today that the most evident of truths – that all of us are created equal – is the star that guides us still; just as it guided our forebears through Seneca Falls, and Selma, and Stonewall,” he said.

The 1969 Stonewall riots, in which homosexuals in drag pelted and attempted to immolate police for raiding a Mafia-run gay bar, are considered by many the genesis of the modern homosexual political movement.

“Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law – for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal as well,” the president said.

UK gov’t agrees to repeal wording in law banning ‘insulting’ speech

(Life Site News)  LONDON, Earlier this evening, Home Secretary Theresa May announced that the government will not contest a decision by the House of Lords to remove wording in the Public Order Act that banned "insulting" speech or signage. The statute has been used as a bludgeon to silence politically incorrect speech, mainly against Christians and conservatives, particularly those who had expressed disagreement with homosexuality.

May confirmed tonight that the word “insulting” would be removed from Section 5 of the Public Order Act, as part of the Crime and Courts Bill.

Street preacher Anthony Rollins was arrested simply for saying he believed homosexuality was immoral.

The law in its current form reads: “a person is guilty of an offense if he - (a) uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behavior, or disorderly behavior, or (b) displays any writing, sign or other visible representation which is threatening, abusive or insulting, within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress thereby.”

They Said ‘No!’: What happened when 12 nurses refused to participate in abortions

It was Beryl Otieno Ngoje`s turn to work the desk in the Same Day Surgery Unit at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), in Newark. She was busy with the usual administrative duties – filing charts, handing out forms to the patients, answering visitors` questions – when another nurse hurried up beside her.

"Oh, something just happened, you won`t believe it," the woman said, visibly excited. "I have it in my hand." She held up a clenched fist, palm up. "I have it in my hand," she said again.

"Do you want to see?"

"Yes," Beryl said – and instantly regretted it.

The other nurse opened her hand to reveal the tiny, tiny form of a baby, just aborted.

2. Facebook allows only people age 13 and over to create personal pages. In other words, every female on Facebook has the legal right to abort.

3. Facebook allows a pro-abortion activist to post instructions on how to commit illegal self-abortions. (Facebook briefly censored the instructions but reposted them and apologized.)

So, logically and objectively speaking, why in the world would Facebook censor information about abortion? Isn’t FB for full disclosure and informed consent?

Would FB actually help promote a surgical procedure but censor what that procedure entails?

Engaging in Culture the Right Way

(ChristianPost) If you`ve read The Chronicles of Narnia, you know they are loaded with Christian themes and symbols. That`s why many assume that C. S. Lewis wrote them in order to send some kind of Christian message.

But Lewis himself insisted otherwise. The tales, he said, started as a series of pictures that came into his mind and set his imagination working. The result was not sermons, but stories-beautiful stories loved by believers and non-believers alike for decades.

There`s a lesson in here for all of us. Conservative Christians today often feel alienated from the larger society, and for good reason. The vast majority of the stories that permeate our culture are told by people whose worldview is diametrically opposed to ours. We can hardly watch a TV show or read a magazine without seeing ourselves portrayed as villains, and our cultural opponents held up as the epitome of righteousness.

Stop Funding Planned Parenthood, Does 1 Abortion Every 94 Seconds

(Life News)  A leading pro-life member of Congress who is behind legislation to revoke taxpayer funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business is not happy about the new annual report it released. Planned Parenthood’s numbers reveal it does one abortion every 94 seconds.

Representative Diane Black, a Tennessee Republican, said, Planned Parenthood’s annual report, showing the organization had provided a record number of abortions during fiscal year 2011-2012, indicates her bill to de-fund it needs to be approved by the House of Representatives.

“As Planned Parenthood’s federal funds reached an all time high, so too did the number of abortions it provided, while its real health services for women continues to decline,” she said in a statement LifeNews received. “This report underscores the pressing need to cut off all federal funding for Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in America. Abortions make up 92 percent of Planned Parenthood’s pregnancy services, while prenatal care and adoption referrals account for less than 8 percent.”

Libyan Gun Control Policies Left Guards Unarmed at U.S. Compound in Benghazi

(CNS News)  The gun control policies of the post-Gaddafi government in Libya delayed the arming of bodyguards for U.S. diplomats in that country and left the local guard force hired to watch over the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi unarmed, according to internal State Department memos and written testimony by the State Department officer who was in charge of the department’s security in Libya until six weeks before the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attacks.

“Our long term security plan in Libya was to recruit and deploy an armed, locally hired Libyan bodyguard unit,” State Department Regional Security Officer Eric Nordstrom told the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee in written testimony.

“However, because of Libyan political sensitivities, armed private security companies were not allowed to operate in Libya,” Nordstrom said in his testimony submitted on Oct. 10. “Therefore, our existing, uniformed static local guard force, both in Tripoli and Benghazi were unarmed, similar to our static local guard forces at many posts around the world. Their job was to observe, report, and alert armed host nation security, and armed DS agents on-site.”

Planned Parenthood Pushing Do-It-Yourself Abortions

(Life News)  Planned Parenthood has spent the last few years vigorously campaigning for less medical oversight on abortion drugs….

When they say “limit[ing] access to abortion drugs,” they mean “requiring basic medical safeguards.” This is pro-choicers’ current cause célèbre: they demand less involvement by trained physicians. Less oversight by the FDA. Fewer requirements to ensure the woman’s health and well-being.

Pro-choicers do not want women to have an ultrasound to confirm gestational age, even though 16 to 23% of women who took RU-486 beyond the FDA-recommended 7 weeks required a D and C because of heavy bleeding or incomplete abortion. 612 women were hospitalized after using the drug, 339 needed a blood transfusion, and 256 suffered infections. And fourteen women died. According to the FDA report, eight of the dead women had been administered RU-486 in a manner unapproved by the FDA….

On March 27, the justices will hear oral arguments on Windsor v. United States, which will consider whether the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) passed in 1996 violates the U.S. Constitution. The plaintiff challenges DOMA’s right to define marriage for the purposes of the federal government, since some U.S. states have redefined marriage to include same-sex couples.

Re-Igniting the Torch of Liberty!

They endured a stock market and financial meltdown, immigration crises, waves of corrupt politicians, and power grabs at the highest levels pushing for worldwide control of the economy and business. Facing an impossible struggle for liberty, they persevered and birthed the finest constitutional republic in history. Only if we learn and understand what they knew and what they did, can we recover our freedom and prosperity and pass the torch of liberty to our posterity.

This is how it happened.

For nearly a century our earliest ancestors set up their civil society molded around the principles of limited, accountable, representative government.

We have faced such forks in the road before. Every new technology has presented fantastic benefits and uncertain costs. Gunpowder, electricity, the combustion engine, atomic energy, etc., have all offered tantalizing either/or tensions. Some of these tensions we still live with, such as the threat of nuclear weapons and encroaching pollution from combustion engines.

Preachers under fire: politics from the pulpit breaks the law, some say

(Daily Bulletin) God created government.

So preached Pastor Jack Hibbs of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills in the days leading up to the presidential election.

Hibbs has joined with nearly 1,600 pastors across the country and about 140 in California in the Pulpit Initiative, a legal effort aimed at protecting the free-speech rights of pastors in the pulpit.

Hibbs` sermons in a series called "Politics and Faith" may have been enough to let the church know which candidate he supported.

Or at least who he didn`t.

He preached about politics and Israel. And politics and defending the pre-born.

Hibbs was emphatic during an Oct. 10 sermon titled "Politics And Your Faith: Why Traditional Marriage Matters":

"One platform says save babies. The other platform says kill babies. One platform says God. One platform does not say God. One platform says Israel. The other one says no Israel."

Some say Hibbs broke the law. Others say he didn`t.

Johnson v. Jesus?

Congress in 1954 passed the Johnson Amendment.

Named after then-Sen. Lyndon B. Johnson, D-Texas, the law was based on the premise that tax-exempt organizations should not publicly endorse or oppose political candidates.

"Violating this prohibition may result in denial or revocation of tax-exempt status and the imposition of certain excise taxes," the law says.

Those who support the Johnson Amendment say churches like Calvary Chapel Chino Hills should lose their tax-exempt status.

Steven Baines, director of religious outreach at the Washington, D.C.-based Americans United, a group that says it is dedicated to preserving church-state separation, said Hibbs` comments about political platforms were a violation of the IRS law.

"What that minister did was link it to one particular candidate or one office and that`s where he crossed the line," Baines said.

Ordained as a Southern Baptist minister and now a part of the Disciples of Christ, Baines said pastors using the pulpit to endorse candidates is bad public policy. And bad for religious freedom in the United States.

"As a minister myself, I can think of nothing worse than turning our pulpits into super (political action committees) for one party or the other," Baines said.

Baines said his group received more than 100 complaints leading up to the election.

"I would say the majority of the complaints did come in from congregations that were opposed to President Obama or emphatically endorsed Mitt Romney," he said.

"What we`re asking is that houses of worship should follow the law, (and) the IRS should prosecute them for defying the law," he said.

But some scholars suggest that pastors simply got caught in the cross-hairs of the Johnson Amendment.

They say it wasn`t intended to muzzle ministers.

James D. Davidson, emeritus professor of sociology at Purdue University, said Johnson aimed the provision at political opponents trying to get him out of office.

"And the way he found to deal with them was to pull the plug on their tax-exempt status," Davidson said. "It was nothing to do with religion at all. It`s one of those unintended consequences."

Freedom to preach

The Pulpit Initiative every year holds Pulpit Freedom Sunday, when pastors focus on political issues.

Backed by the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Alliance Defending Freedom, the event marked its fifth anniversary on Oct. 7.

"Since 1954 and the Johnson Amendment, the IRS has set itself up as the pulpit police," said Erik Stanley, senior legal counsel for Alliance, which has about 2,200 lawyers assisting with the initiative.

Stanley said his group supports the free-speech rights of pastors on both sides of the political aisle.

"Pulpit Freedom Sunday is really all about protecting a pastor`s right to speak freely from the pulpit and not be intimidated or censored by the government for doing so," he said.

His group at some point wants to generate a "test case" in hopes of having the Johnson Amendment declared unconstitutional.

Alliance may indeed have a case.

The Supreme Court in 2010 ruled in favor of the nonprofit conservative group Citizens United, which produced a 2008 movie attacking Hillary Clinton and sought to advertise it on broadcast TV.

Opponents say the court eased campaign spending restrictions on corporations and labor unions.

Dean Broyles, president of the Escondido-based National Center for Law and Policy, which has defended the rights of families to hold church services in their homes, said the Citizens United case could be a precursor to the Supreme Court killing the Johnson Amendment.

He said the issue is whether corporations are considered people, because if so, they have First Amendment rights. Most churches form as nonprofit corporations.

"With the current court makeup, my prediction will be if they follow the analysis of the Citizens United case, the Johnson Amendment will be struck down," Broyles said.

He said the other option is that a groundswell of pastors causes lawmakers to take notice and overturn the Johnson Amendment.

Political preaching

American pulpits since the founding of the country have been filled with pastors dedicated to political reform.

Scholars point to the Congregationalist church and Presbyterians in New England as having a profound impact on the shaping of the nation.

"There has been a long history of preaching in this country that was political and quite divisive," said James E. Bradley, the Geoffrey W. Bromiley professor of church history at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena.

"The pulpit was pretty critical to the success in the revolt against England and King George III," Bradley said. "Some referred to the revolution as a Presbyterian rebellion."

Bradley also noted that Baptists and Presbyterians were instrumental in stopping the effort to impose a religious tax paid to Anglican Church ministers in Virginia.

The cord between government and religion in that state was cut when a bill passed in 1785 defeated religious taxes, and Thomas Jefferson in 1786 passed the Virginia Act for Establishing Religious Freedom.

"Against a lot of contemporary popular opinion, it`s the case that some religious groups were quite instrumental in the beginning of religious freedom," Bradley said.

The pulpit also was prominent on both sides of the Civil War, as northern Baptists preached abolition and Southern Baptists supported slavery, he said.

And the civil rights movement saw black preachers and those like Martin Luther King Jr. use the pulpit to rally the nation.

Bradley said the American revolution, the Civil War and the civil rights movement "are just three of the most obvious illustrations of how public and outspoken protestant preachers have been in this country."

`Draw the IRS out`

The IRS has warned several churches about possibly losing their tax-exempt status for endorsing candidates.

In 2004, a presidential election year, the IRS warned 42 churches for "prohibited political campaign intervention."

Raphael Tulino, an IRS spokesman, said "we don`t go anywhere near commenting on specific taxpayer cases."

After the 1992 presidential election, the IRS revoked the tax-exempt status of the Church at Pierce in Vestal, N.Y.

The congregation had published anti-Clinton advertisements in newspapers.

In 2007, the IRS dropped its investigation into All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena.

An anti-war sermon had been preached at the liberal church two days before the 2004 presidential election.

The Rev. Susan Russell said the IRS fight was a watershed moment for the church, which has a deep history of preaching on issues such as anti-war policy, poverty, torture and marriage equality.

"Our challenge with the IRS helped us understand how critically important it is for patriotic people of faith to stand firmly on the right side of the line in advocating on issues and taking partisan positions," Russell said.

She said it`s important for Alliance Episcopal to preach values while not endorsing a candidate, so that it is free to criticize what it perceives as bad policies from either side of the aisle.

David Hernandez of San Dimas has been regularly attending Calvary Chapel Chino Hills for about three years.

He said Hibbs doesn`t tell the flock which way to vote.

"I think sometimes there are people that are uninformed or under-educated about a certain item or proposition, and Pastor Jack brings it up and looks at it from a biblical point of view," Hernandez said.

Hibbs remains steadfast in his commitment to preaching in the face of the Johnson Amendment and IRS auditors.

Hibbs sent a DVD copy of his sermons, along with a letter to the IRS saying "I am confident that you will agree with the church/state protections established by our forefathers that allows pastors to apply Scripture to all issues in life without fear of government censorship."

As for Baines` comment that he crossed the line and broke the law in his sermon series on politics, Hibbs said it made him smile. He welcomes an IRS case because he believes it will help get the Johnson Amendment overturned.

"That`s the whole point, to cross the line, to draw fire," Hibbs said. "We want to draw the IRS out."

It’s the Christian`s Duty to Speak the Truth

(desiringGod) Christians — people who bank their hopes on Jesus and spend time with Jesus and obey Jesus — should stand up in public and tell God`s truth as they see it without worrying that secular listeners may not even agree with our most basic assumptions.

Isn`t it amazing how Peter and John respond to the rulers [Acts 4:13–20]! The rulers tell them to get out and not to speak in the name of Jesus any more. Then in verse 19–20 they say, "Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge; for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard."

One of the great obstacles to our speaking out in public about the truth as we see it with Jesus is that we think we have to win. Or we think we have to operate with the assumptions of secular leaders. But Peter shows us that this is emphatically not what we have to do. Our calling is not to win or to borrow the assumptions of the world. Our calling is to stand up and tell it like it is in the eyes of God.

California moves to raise taxes, lower threshold

(OneNewsNow) A taxpayer advocate says although voters may vote to raise taxes, it doesn`t signal that they will stand behind any increase lawmakers propose.

Two measures are making their way to the California Legislature that would reduce the two-thirds vote required to approve local parcel taxes to 55 percent. The measures, which Democrats say Californians will stand behind, would allow voters to approve parcel taxes for schools and libraries at a lower threshold.

Commentators say that since voters passed Proposition 30 to raise taxes, it shows they realize there is a need to generate revenue through taxation, especially on the wealthy. However, Lew Uhler, founder and president of the National Tax-Limitation Committee, believes that is not the reason why voters approved tax increases in November.

As the 40 Year Memorial of Roe v. Wade Approaches, the Failure of America`s Mega Churches to Publicly Confront Ending Abortion is Extremely Troubling

(Christian Newswire) A glance at the websites of America`s largest churches reveal no mention of ending abortion or listing abortion with other social justice and pressing human rights issues.

Issues like; providing clean water, human trafficking, fighting poverty, urban ministry, affordable housing and mentoring are mentioned, but working to end abortion is never addressed.

With 55,000,000 innocent lives lost and the lives of women diminished and bruised through abortion, it is shameful and disturbing that the most influential evangelical churches in America are not publicly addressing the greatest human rights and social justice issue of our time.

Gary Haugen at Passion 2013: You Can Be the Generation That Ends Slavery in the World

(Christian Post) Gary Haugen, president and CEO of International Justice Mission (IJM), told the 60,000+ Passion 2013 participants that 27 million people in slavery today is a massive problem of injustice in our world and that they must make this cause a priority, in what was both a plea for awareness and a challenge to take action Wednesday afternoon.

"As your brother in Christ I simply want to tell you that slavery is real, it`s massive, it`s brutal, and it`s also in our own backyard," he said. "But you can be the generation that ends slavery in the world."

IJM is an international human rights agency that rescues victims of violence, sexual exploitation, slavery and oppression worldwide, and in recent years the Passion movement has partnered extensively with their global initiatives raising significant finances in the fight to free those enslaved today.

According to Britain`s Daily Mail, scientists are studying the DNA of Sandy Hook killer Adam Lanza, looking for an `evil` gene. The study is said to be the first of its kind, and it will look closely at any genetic evidence for the killing of 20 children and six staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary School, as well as the murder of his own mother.
