Birth control mandate meant to squeeze churches out of healthcare, says Congressman

(LifeSiteNews) Two U.S. Congressmen, one Democrat and one Republican, have urged conservatives in strong terms to immediately fight the Obama mandate forcing religious institutions to provide free abortifacient birth control, calling it a “very, very real” threat to religious freedom. One of the congressmen call the mandate an attempt to push the church out of healthcare.

U.S. Reps. Chris Smith (R-NJ) and Dan Lipinski (D-IL) told pro-life leaders this week not to underestimate the magnitude of the announcement by Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius last week that religious organizations like hospitals and universities have one year until they must comply with the order to provide the drugs free of copay.

Macy`s Continues to Offend Customers

(One Million Moms)  Recently Macy`s Department store mailed its newest catalogue out to many Americans. In the hopes of making sales, instead they offended many customers in the process. The back cover looks like just a regular advertisement for their wedding registry service, but there is one major difference.

When you take a closer look you see the cake topper of two men instead of the traditional man and woman. The ad also includes a license plate that reads "I do" and hearts scattered everywhere. Macy`s must believe this is mainstream, but just because gay marriage is legal in a few states, this is inappropriate marketing and conservative customers will not support it

Please send Macy`s an email letter below asking that they discontinue their "two groom" advertisement. Many of our supporters have already spoken up concerning Macy`s policy on transgender men allowed into women`s dressing rooms, and we will continue to speak out on traditional values. Some of our members have reported that they requested that their Macy`s store credit card account be closed and shared the reason behind their decision. During our last campaign, we did not receive a reply from Macy`s, but this does not mean that we will give up.

UPDATE: OMM is glad to report that during this week`s "Modern Family" episode, Home Depot and KFC (YUM Brands) along with Knorr (Unilever), Silk Soymilk (WhiteWave Foods), and Special K (Kellogg), did not support the program financially since their ads did not run again after OMM contacted them on the foul language being used by the two-year-old cast member. You are making a difference!

Gay marriage draws support from U.S. mayors led by Villaraigosa

(Los Angeles Times) Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was among a group of 80 mayors in Washington on Friday who pledged their support for gay marriage and announced an initiative aimed at expanding marriage rights for same-sex couples.
The initiative, called Mayors for the Freedom to Marry, was announced during a press conference held at the U.S. Conference of Mayors` winter meeting. Villaraigosa will co-chair the group.
The mayors have pledged to push their cities to pass laws allowing same-sex marriage and urge Congress to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act, which defines marriage as a legal union between one man and one woman. Critics say it unfairly denies federal benefits to same-sex married couples and allows states to refuse to recognize same-sex marriages granted in other states.

The movie Bella was released in 2007 and immediately caught international attention, capturing the hearts of many women who had had or were in the midst of unplanned pregnancies (see earlier article). That prompted one of the executive producers to form an organization called "Bella HERO."

Tracy Reynolds, a spokesperson for the organization, says about the new venture, “Jason Jones then woke up one day and really said he had a vision to provide free Bella DVDs -- and this after the DVD came out in 2008 -- free Bella DVDs to women in unplanned pregnancies. Brand new guidelines pushing radical, explicit sex ed agenda on schools nationwide

(LifeSiteNews)  The recommendations begin with a kindergarten to second grade curriculum. They suggest that, by the end of second grade, children should be using “proper names for body parts, including male and female anatomy,” be familiar with “different kinds of family structures,” and be able to “describe differences and similarities in how boys and girls may be expected to act, and provide examples of how friends, family, media, society and culture influence ways in which boys and girls think they should act.”

Introduction to sexual orientation would begin in the 3rd – 5th grade, and by 5th grade, students are expected to be able to define sexual orientation as “the romantic attraction of an individual to someone of the same gender or a different gender.”

The 6th – 8th grade curriculum calls for an explanation of the correct way to use a condom and an analysis of “external influences that have an impact on one’s attitudes about gender, sexual orientation, and gender identity.”

“Gender identity” is defined in the glossary as a person’s “inner sense of their gender.” The document explains: “most people develop a gender identity that corresponds to their biological sex, but some do not.”

URGENT ALERT! Legislation Allowing Boys in Girl`s Bathroom and Locker Rooms

(Capitol Resource Institute)  A recently amended bill in the California Legislature would allow boys to access the girl`s locker room, bathrooms and play and compete on girl`s sports teams, starting in elementary school. Assembly Bill 266 had been a bland bill dealing with sports teams and arenas.   But with a quick amendment on Wednesday the bill now allows for self-selection of gender by students in California schools.

The modified legislation now states:

A pupil shall be permitted to participate in sex-segregated school programs, activities, and facilities, including athletic teams and competitions, consistent with his or her gender identity, irrespective of the gender listed on the pupil`s records.

By amending an existing two year bill, the modified legislation avoids certain hearing and public input requirements and perhaps some of the expected public opposition.

"The promoters of this legislation are exploiting children`s gender confusion with their proposal to let each student choose the bathroom and locker room where they most desire to be," said Karen England, Executive Director of Capitol Resource Institute.  "Does anybody really believe it is a good idea for either the troubled or the tempted to be told it is up to them to decide whether they should use the boy`s or the girl`s bathroom?"

AB 266 will be heard in the Assembly Education Committee on Wednesday January 11.
Please contact your Assemblymember and the Assembly Education Committee members and urge them to oppose this radical piece of legislation.

How the feds are tracking your kid

(New York Post) Would it bother you to know that the federal Centers for Disease Control had been shown your daughter’s health records to see how she responded to an STD/teen-pregnancy-prevention program? How about if the federal Department of Education and Department of Labor scrutinized your son’s academic performance to see if he should be “encouraged” to leave high school early to learn a trade? Would you think the government was intruding on your territory as a parent?

Under regulations the Obama Department of Education released this month, these scenarios could become reality. The department has taken a giant step toward creating a de facto national student database that will track students by their personal information from preschool through career. Although current federal law prohibits this, the department decided to ignore Congress and, in effect, rewrite the law.

91% of Pregnant Women Planned Parenthood Sees Get Abortions

(LifeNews)  As LifeNews reported last week, a new annual report the Planned Parenthood abortion business released shows it helped fewer pregnant women with prenatal care and the number of pregnant women it referred for adoptions declined as well.

The report also breaks down the “services” Planned Parenthood offers in addition to abortions. Planned Parenthood has always come under fire from pro-life groups for doing hundreds of thousands of abortions by providing little in the way of help for pregnant woman wanting to keep their baby or considering adoption. The new report shows that hasn’t changed.

The new document the abortion organization posted shows Planned Parenthood did 329,445 abortions in 2010 while it provided prenatal care to only 31,098 women and referred only 841 women to adoption agencies.

It Gets Better - the youth campaign that makes everything worse

(MercatorNet) What’s not to like about the It Gets Better Project?

After all, bullying is bad. Compassion is good. And who could object to offering hope (to suicidal LGBT youth) and insisting on change (from a hostile, bullying culture)?

Especially when the project Saves Lives.

So what’s not to like? Plenty. For starters, it’s the brainchild of Dan Savage, “America’s leading sex-advice columnist.” (Sample his advice here. Warning: graphic.)

Selective Reduction Killing More Twins, Triplets in Abortions

(LifeNews)  There’s a new trend in the abortion industry. It’s called “selective reduction” to take the sting away from what it really is.

“Selective reduction” is the abortion of one or more babies in a multiple pregnancy. Basically, if a woman is pregnant with twins, triplets, or more—usually through in vitro fertilization or another fertility treatment—and she decides she only wants one or two babies, she aborts the rest. Can abortion get more horrifying?

Divorce Rate Among Afghanistan, Iraq War Vets Increases by 42 Percent

(Christian Post)  The divorce rate among military couples has increased 42 percent throughout the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, a recent study shows, adding to the woes of U.S. military veterans returning from the Middle East who already have to tackle war-related problems like post-traumatic stress disorder and high unemployment rates.

Couples` plans to pursue divorce gain plausibility with each subsequent month a service member is deployed, according to new research by Family Life, a nonprofit that focuses on marriage and parenting issues. The first 90 days after deployment are the most critical for military marriages, the organization says.

Planned Parenthood`s Abortions Are Just 3% Claim is False

(LifeNews)  As we’re all VERY familiar with by now, Planned Parenthood absolutely insists that abortions only comprise 3% of their “services.” Now, even if this were an accurate representation of the truth, it would be abhorrent.

When you render 11,003,366 services in a year, and 329,445 of them are abortions, that’s nothing to be proud of. That’s equal to 329,445 murders, and it’s terrible. It should never be funded by the government or allowed by the public.

Growing Social Trend for 2012: Artificial Reproduction?

(Christian Post) Glenn Stanton says one of the most significant social and cultural trends for 2012 could be one that no one is watching. Scientists call it Artificial Reproductive Technology. Stanton has another name for it: disembodied procreation.

ART is the growing industry surrounding sperm donation and artificial insemination. Stanton, the director of Family Formation Studies at Focus on the Family, told The Christian Post that “it is a huge growth market that is just not getting much attention. But the implications are enormous.”

You won`t believe what`s next in radical sex agenda

(WND) A key attorney in the fight for Christian and family values in California’s trend-setting school system warns his state’s teacher’s union is about to begin its “next major push” in the cultural battle over homosexuality in schools.

“‘Gender liberation’ will likely be the new vogue term used to describe the tidal wave that is fast approaching the shores of the California public school system,” writes Robert Tyler, founder of Advocates for Faith & Freedom, a non-profit law firm dedicated to protecting religious liberty. “And you can be sure that it won’t stop there. It will spread throughout the nation and have disastrous consequences on the innocent.
