National Pray for Marriage Day: Sunday, February 26, 2012

The outrageous ruling of two federal judges threatens to redefine marriage in California – and ultimately in every state across the nation. This ruling is not only an attack on marriage, but completely disregards the will of seven million Californians who voted to uphold marriage as the union between one man and one woman in their state Constitution.

No court should undercut the democratic process by taking the power to preserve marriage out of the hands of the people. But we are not surprised that this attack on marriage – tried in San Francisco – turned out this way.

Home Depot forces agenda on employees

(American Family Association)  The photo at right was taken inside a Home Depot store break room. In essence, Home Depot is blatantly exposing its employees to accept the company`s pro-homosexual agenda by allowing large "indoctrination" bulletin boards in areas used by employees.

The material on this bulletin board includes a promotional letter by Human Rights Campaign, the nation`s largest "gay marriage" advocacy group. It also contains messages that criticize anyone who would speak out against homosexuality, thus silencing any viewpoint other than full acceptance.

By doing so, Home Depot is establishing that it embraces and promotes a pro-homosexual agenda as corporate policy.

Over 600,000 people have signed the pledge to boycott Home Depot until it agrees to remain neutral in the culture and political war over homosexual marriage.

To help promote the boycott, AFA has produced the AFA Pass Along Sheet. Please print copies of this sheet and share them with your neighbors, friends and co-workers. Encourage them to join the boycott of The Home Depot.

Justice Department Won’t Defend DOMA for the Military

(CitizenLink) The Obama administration did an about-face concerning military policy and the federal Defense of Marriage Act on Friday, when Attorney General Eric Holder informed Congress the Department of Justice will not stand in the way of any service members’ same-sex spouses suing the military for spousal benefits.

Holder wrote that he has determined that the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) — the federal law defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman — violates the equal protection clause of the First Amendment.

Pew study: 2 million dead Americans on active voter rolls

(Christian Post) Nearly 2 million dead Americans are still on active voter registries, and 1 in every 8 registrations in the United States is invalid or has major inaccuracies, according to a new study.

Research released Tuesday by the Pew Center on the States shows that the country is spending more on voter registration while getting worse results than other nations such as Canada. The study points to antiquated systems that don’t reflect modern technology and fail to address the biggest obstacles to maintaining accurate, up-to-date voter-registry databases.

PTC issues warning re: MTV`s `Pants`

(OneNewsNow) A conservative media watchdog group is going after MTV for airing a television program with inappropriate content that targets children as young as 12.

Parents Television Council accuses the cable channel of taking HBO-style content and marketing it to a Nickelodeon-age audience. Dan Isett is director of public policy for the PTC.

"MTV has a new show called `I Just Want My Pants Back` -- and as you might imagine it`s a show that`s absolutely replete with both sexual content and sexual dialogue," he says. "And it`s one that`s been mis-appropriately rated as appropriate for a 14-year-old child -- and MTV is on the record as having targeted a demographic beginning with children as young as 12."

From aborting her own baby to starting a network of pro-life medical clinics: Kathleen Eaton’s story

(LifeSiteNews)  The young woman staggered out the back door of the abortion clinic. She barely managed to make her way to her car before she collapsed on the curb, sobbing uncontrollably.

The year was 1980. Kathleen, in her early 20’s, had recently separated from her husband and had just aborted another man’s baby. In her time of crisis, Kathleen had turned for help to the only organizations she knew, Planned Parenthood and Family Planning Associates. The first gave her a pregnancy test, the other aborted her baby. As Kathleen doubled up from pain on the curb side, rocking her tear-streaked face in her hands, she vowed to God that if he showed her just one woman who faced a choice like hers, she would do all she could to guide that woman down a different path.

Queen of Sheba`s lost gold mine discovered, archaeologist claims

(FOXNews)  A British archaeologist working in northern Ethiopia believes she may have discovered an ancient goldmine that holds clues about where the Queen of Sheba obtained her storied wealth.

Louise Schofield, a former curator at the British Museum, told The Observer she was alerted to the mine by a gold prospector while working on an environmental development project in Ethiopia`s Tigray region.

The site is within the former territory of the nearly 3,000-year-old Sheba kingdom, which scholars believe spanned from Ethiopia to Yemen. Schofield pointed to nearby clues that suggest the site was an important place in the ancient civilization, including a 20-foot (six-meter) stone slab carved with a sun and crescent moon -- a "calling card of the land of Sheba," she told The Observer.

Urge Congress to support conscience rights in response to the Obama Contraceptive Mandate

(Family Research Council) Congress needs to hear your voice on a critical matter related to life and religious freedoms.

Because of a provision in Obamacare, the Obama Administration issued a "regulation" mandating that all private health insurance plans completely cover contraceptives and sterilization services (including those with abortifacient mechanisms of action). Organizations that provide insurance to their employees will be forced to cover such services, even if they have moral or religious objections.

The good news is that Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (R-NE) and Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO) have introduced the "Respect for Rights of Conscience Act" to provide conscience protections for any services to which individuals or groups have moral or religious objections. With the news coverage at a peak, it is imperative to contact your U.S. House Representative to support the Fortenberry bill (H.R. 1179) and to contact your U.S. Senators to urge support for the Blunt bill (S. 1467) to provide conscience protections for health plans, health providers and individuals to prevent government discrimination such as the contraception mandate.

National Marriage Week: What Can Christians Do to Strengthen Their Marriage?

(Christian Post)  With National Marriage Week USA beginning Feb. 7, Christian couples are questioning how they can strengthen their own marriage, especially since recent statistics indicate marriage in the U.S. is on the decline.

According to a study released by Pew Research Center in Dec. 2011, the percentage of Americans who marry has dropped from 72 percent in 1960 to 51 percent in 2011. The number of new marriages fell 5 percent from 2009 to 2010.

Many attribute this decline to the sour economy. Fights over money, as well as the insecurity that accompanies one`s inability to provide for his/her family can create marital strife.

As the founders of Marriage for Today Rev. Mike and Trisha Fox confirm, although a poor economy can weaken a troubled marriage, the sharp decline in marriage is a result of a deeper problem: America has forgotten about "the value and importance of the sanctity and relevance of marriage itself."

Merck-funded scientist pushes HPV vaccine for boys despite absence of proof of efficacy

(LifeSiteNews)  A researcher who has been a consultant for the manufacturers of the controversial Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) vaccine has conducted a study using money from the one of the companies that purports to show that boys are more likely to contract oral HPV than girls.

Dr. Maura L. Gillison, a professor at Ohio State University who has worked as a consultant for Merck and GlaxoSmithKline, was the “principal researcher” for the study, which was itself funded partly by Merck.  She is not being coy about the conclusions she wants the public to draw from the results.

“The new data should give parents more to think about as they consider whether to vaccinate their children—especially their sons,” says Gilson, in the words of the LA Times. The paper goes on to quote her verbatim as saying, “Some parents may have felt that the risk of HPV infection wasn’t relevant to them. But this study shows 1 in 10 boys has an infection that can lead to a cancer.”

Girl Scouts Use Cookie Dough for Political Activism

(Family Research Council) It looks like liberals finally got caught with their hands in the cookie jar! After people like FRC`s Cathy Ruse started exposing the connection between the Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood, more customers are pulling their support from the annual fundraiser. One news outlet in Idaho, says more than 200 people have complained, bringing cookie sales to one of their lowest points. Shelli Rambo Roberson, the CEO of the local Council, claims there`s no partnership. It`s just a "rumor," she told reporters.

Not so, says Cathy, who has plenty of documentation from a special U.N. "Girls Only" workshop co-hosted by Planned Parenthood and the Girl Scouts. The workshop included a graphic sex manual called "Healthy, Happy, and Hot," full of ideas too pornographic to repeat. It`s part of a joint project to bring "better sexual health" to girls as young as 10. Calif. DMV to help `normalize` homosexuality?

(OneNewsNow) An ex-"gay" leader says California legislators are trying to sneak through approval of a method to fund homosexual indoctrination in public schools.

The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) recognizes a handful of license plates that generate funds to benefit different organizations. And under a proposed bill, license plates that fund the state`s anti-discrimination policy would be added to the list.

AB 1539 would mandate the DMV to create license plates to fund the California Department of Education`s efforts to operate supposed "anti-bullying" programs in schools. But as the California Family Council (CFC) points out, the anti-bullying "message" has been used to promote homosexuality and alternate lifestyles, and this measure would direct that focus to lesbian, "gay," bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students.

Sign our petition urging Congress and the Obama Administration to take action to end the purging of Christianity from the military.

(Family Research Council) It`s happened again.

In a move that`s reflective of the Obama Administration`s continuing track-record of hostility toward Christianity, Lt. Gen. William Boykin (USA, Ret.), was recently pressured to withdraw from speaking at the United States Military Academy at West Point. General Boykin had been preparing to speak at the West Point Prayer Breakfast about the importance of prayer in a leader`s life. The Academy moved Boykin to pull out of the event when a handful of atheist and Muslim cadets complained about Boykin`s beliefs. The message to this elite, three-star warrior was obvious: You and your faith aren`t welcome.

General Boykin is an American hero. There are few who would be more qualified to speak at a West Point prayer event. A former Delta Force leader who has faced danger for his country on missions in places like Iran, Somalia, and Grenada, General Boykin is also a man of deep Christian conviction. It is his outspoken faith that has made him a target of groups like the Council on American Islamic Relations, who lodged a complaint with West Point, which led to Boykin not speaking at the event.

(Family Research Council)  This isn`t the first time that an outspoken Christian has been booted from military events. Just over a year ago, I was disinvited from an event at Andrews Air Force base because of my biblical views. Before that, evangelist Franklin Graham`s invitation to a Pentagon prayer service was rescinded because he too spoke the truth about his faith. These high-profile snubbings of religious expression are only the tip of the iceberg. The Obama Administration is advancing an environment of religious disarmament among the military -- and it must be stopped quickly for the sake of our soldiers` spiritual lives.

You can help the brave men and women of our military. Please join with me in signing our petition that calls on Congress and the Obama Administration to take action to ensure that America`s brave warriors have access to free and full expression of their faith.
