The Gay Protest That Encountered the Love of God

(Charisma News)  Last week, Scott Volk, one of the pastoral leaders at FIRE Church, my home congregation, received a call from the local police informing him that there would be a gay protest outside our building on Sunday morning.

The leader of the protest announced on Facebook, “We will meet just before service begins, and protest as they gather, we will have a silent protest as service is going and let them have it as they leave for the day. Remember we will be peaceful and respectful, something they don’t understand. We are going to STAND TOGETHER AS A COMMUNITY to show that our love is stronger than their hate.”

In response, I wrote on my blog: “On behalf of FIRE Church, I want to extend to you the warmest welcome and let you know that we are thrilled that you are here with us on Sunday. We have been praying for you for a long time!

‘Which one was conceived in Rape?’: the viral image that deflated pro-abortion rhetoric

(LifeSiteNews) The fuzzy grayscale ultrasound images of the two unborn babies are practically identical. But the jarring question above the images makes everyone take a second look: “Which of these two human beings was conceived in rape?”

The viewer is compelled to say: “I can’t tell, they both look the same.” And that’s exactly the point.

Whether a baby is conceived in the terrible circumstance of rape or in the happy circumstance of a loving spousal embrace, the fact remains that both are human beings. Both, if given a chance, will flourish by being loved, and both will requite that love in due season.

But that is not the answer abortion advocates ever want anyone to give when discussing rape and abortion.

Utah TV station refuses to air homosexual-themed ‘The New Normal’

(LifeSiteNews) A Salt Lake City TV station which is owned by the Mormon Church has decided against airing “The New Normal,” NBC’s new homosexual-themed sitcom.

A statement from KSL-TV‘s parent company, Bonneville International, cited offensive characterizations, crude dialogue and explicit content as the underlying reasons for rejecting the TV show.

The show is produced and directed by openly homosexual Ryan Murphy, who also produced “The Playboy Club,” “American Horror Story,” “Glee,” and “Nip/Tuck.”

“After viewing the pilot episode of ‘The New Normal,’ we have made the decision to keep it off our fall schedule,” said Jeff Simpson, CEO of Bonneville International, according to Deseret News. “For our brand, this program simply feels inappropriate on several dimensions, especially during family viewing time.”

“The New Normal” is about a homosexual couple who hires a surrogate to produce a baby for them.

Survey reveals growing attacks on religious freedom in US

(LifeSiteNews) Hostility against religious liberty has reached an all-time high in America, and the attacks are increasing at an unprecedented rate, say two pro-family groups that track attacks on religious freedom in the U.S.

Kelly Shackelford, President & CEO of Liberty Institute, and Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council, announced the release of the survey on Monday during the platform week of the Republican National Convention in Tampa.

“America today would be unrecognizable to our Founders,” said Shackelford in the presentation. “Our First Liberty is facing a relentless onslaught from well-funded and aggressive groups and individuals who are using the courts, Congress, and the vast federal bureaucracy to suppress and limit religious freedom. This radicalized minority is driven by an anti-religious ideology that is turning the First Amendment upside down.”

Mr. Perkins said, “As dark as this survey is, there is much light. The secularists’ agenda only advances when those who love liberty are apathetic. Let this be a call to stand for religious liberty in the United States.”

5th Circuit Sides With Texas

(CitizenLink) A full panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday ruled that Texas may stop funding Planned Parenthood clinics while the abortion seller’s lawsuit is ongoing

“We’re very excited that it’s clear now the state of Texas can stop using tax dollars to support Planning Parenthood,” said Jonathan Saenz, director of legislative affairs at the Liberty Institute. “Texas has a constitutional right to say it doesn’t support abortions and that it doesn’t want to pay for them.”

“What we’re seeing across the country is that Planned Parenthood is a sinking ship trying to take (states) down,” Saenz said. “And that’s why Texas cut ties with them.”

Atheists Face Legal Battle to Stop Churches From Feeding Athletes

(CharismaNews) The atheist group that’s making ridiculous demands on prayerful high school football coaches and local churches feeding athletes won’t be allowed to intimidate school districts without a fight.

Liberty Counsel offered free legal defense to Georgia’s Walker County Public School Board in the wake of recent threats from the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF).

In its letter to the school superintendent, FFRF makes a number of assertions, leading off with the most ridiculous: “Taking public school football teams to church, even for a meal, is unconstitutional.”

Traditionally, 10 churches in Rossville, Ga., take turns feeding the Ridgeland Panthers football team before games. The first meal and game of the season will be on August 31, 2012, unless the FFRF has its way

Failed Background Check? State Pays Anyway

(WorldNetDaily) The state of Colorado, under Gov. John Hickenlooper, has made the “Corruption Chronicles” assembled by government watchdog Judicial Watchwith its latest government “reorganization” that shifted some state employees – some making up to six figures – from one department to another.

The problem?

The workers failed to pass the required criminal background checks for the state Department of Public Safety, into which a couple of previously independent programs were folded.

“Here is an amusing story from Colorado: state officials are working hard to help relocate longtime employees who didn’t pass background checks but got hired anyways, evidently by public agencies with low standards,” said the Chronicles.

Churches Unwelcome In Calif. Wine Country

(OneNewsNow) Calvary Chapel Bible Fellowship in Temecula is preparing to file a lawsuit against Riverside County in response to the ban keeping churches out of the Temecula Wine Country. A public hearing will be held on August 22 to decide on churches in the region.

Christian Newswire reports that Pastor Clark Van Wick of Calvary Chapel Bible Fellowship met with vintners and was told, "We don`t want your kind out here." But Bob Tyler of Advocates for Faith & Freedom says there is no justification for that.

The church received permission in 1999 to model its building and build a new facility at the location. But shortly after that, the county passed a law banning churches from Wine Country.

Guilty: Homosexual activist admits sending death threats to pro-life, pro-marriage leader

(LifeSiteNews) A Connecticut homosexual pled guilty on Tuesday to sending 300 threatening messages, including death threats, to the leader of a state pro-life, pro-marriage organization.

53-year-old Daniel Sarno of Enfield, Connecticut, admitted intimidating Peter Wolfgang, the executive director of the Family Institute of Connecticut, over a six-month period from last November until May.

One message read: “No mercy for homophobes. I suggest you make your funeral arrangements real soon, Mr. Wolfgang.”

Another said, “I sure hope somebody blows you away. Yer dead.”

“Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident,” Wolfgang said in a statement e-mailed to LifeSiteNews.com. “In fact it is part of a growing and disturbing intimidation campaign among some proponents of same-sex ‘marriage.’ It is clear that their pretense of ‘tolerance’ is over.”

Biola, Grace File Federal Suit Over Abortion Pill Mandate

(CharismaNews) In the ongoing backlash against Obamacare, two evangelical Christian colleges—Grace College and Seminary in Indiana and Biola University in California—have filed a federal lawsuit against the administration.

The lawsuit is the latest to challenge the Obama administration’s unconstitutional mandate that faith-based employers provide insurance coverage for abortion-inducing drugs at no cost to employees regardless of religious or moral objections.

“Christian colleges should remain free to operate according to their deeply held beliefs. Punishing religious people and organizations for freely exercising their faith is an assault on our most fundamental American freedoms,” says Gregory S. Pastors Can`t Shy Away from `Difficult Issues`

(OneNewsNow) Pastors are being encouraged to speak from the pulpit on major cultural and political issues.

Sam Rohrer, head of the Pennsylvania Pastors Network (PPN), says nationwide issues need to be assessed by pastors.

"Pennsylvania Pastors Network is committed to encouraging, assisting and motivating pastors who claim the authority of scripture to boldly stand in the pulpit, to preach the whole counsel of God -- even the difficult issues -- to teach their people to be salt and light (Matthew 5:13-16) to the culture," Rohrer shares.

"We have a spiritual problem in America, and it`s the pastors in the pulpit that are commissioned by God Himself to stand up and teach the truth that just in fact may be our last line of defense when it comes to defending freedom as we know it in the United States of America," the PPN president asserts.

Huge spike in full nudity on prime-time TV: study

(LifeSiteNews) Nudity on television is on the rise, and seen by younger eyes than ever, according to a recent study.

Full nudity on television shows rose by 403 percent during the 2011-2012 season from the previous season, according to the Parent Television Council’s study. Whereas in 2010-2011 there were 15 incidents of nudity in 14 shows, this rose the following year to 76 incidents in 37 shows.

The study also found that the traditionally family-friendly hours before 9 p.m. are now showcasing nudity with greater frequency, with 70% of the nude scenes occurring before 9 in 2012, compared to 50% the previous year.

“At the end of the day, the networks don’t much care if they insult or offend viewers with their programming, as long as they can find companies that are willing to continue paying for it,” she said. “Companies need to know that if they continue to pay for that kind of content, consumers have options and may choose to take their business elsewhere.”

Muslim Attacks Reducing Iraq`s Christian Population

(OneNewsNow) Jerry Dykstra of Open Doors USA says believers have not only been injured in recent incidents between Muslim factions, but they have been specifically targeted for their faith. Christians in Mosul, the nation`s third largest city, have especially suffered in the past few months.

"There used to be a sizeable amount of Christians there -- in fact almost 100,000 -- but during the last ten years or so, that has really gone down to about 25,000," Dykstra reports. "So, they have been targeted, especially in Mosul. They have been threatened. They have been kidnapped."

Many have gone to northern Iraq, while others fled to Lebanon and then Syria. But Christians have even been leaving those locations. There are about 345,000 Christians remaining in Iraq, compared to a million in 2003.

Jenkins never adopted Isabella and has no biological relationship with the girl, who exhibited signs of emotional trauma following forced visits with Jenkins, according to experts who observed her.

While he opposes homosexual “marriage,” he does not see it as the greatest threat to the institution, instead holding that “the greatest threat is a Christianity that has marginalized and compromised Jesus’ teaching on marriage. The teaching of Jesus as understood by the Church for the first 300 years of its history allowed for divorce or separation in rare cases, but remarriage was viewed as adultery.”

He prescribes a “radical repentance within Christianity” as the solution to the problem.

Only 6 in Every 100,000 Abortions in England Performed to Save Life of the Mother

(ChristianPost) Just 6 in every 100,000 abortions being performed in England and Wales were undertaken to save the mother from a life-threatening situation, a new report has found. That means in 99.994 percent of abortions the baby was terminated even though the mother`s life was not immediately at risk.

The new report issued by the British government highlights the alarming number of legal abortions conducted over recent decades with with only a tiny fraction being conducted to save the life of the mother.

"When the case for allowing legal abortion was first placed before the [British] Parliament it was argued that the law needed to be changed to deal with extremely serious situations," according to a report by the Christian Institute in Britain.

"More than 6 million abortions later the figures reveal that in 99.5% of cases where an unborn child`s life is ended there is no risk to the health of the mother…other figures reveal that 3 teenage girls have had 24 abortions between them and that some women have had more than eight legal abortions," the CI report added.

Marriage Advocates Win in Hawaii

(CitizenLink) A federal court on Wednesday upheld a Hawaii law defining marriage as the union between one man and one woman.

Last December, Natasha N. Jackson and Janin Kleid filed the suit, asking the court to strike down the state marriage amendment and the definition of marriage. The 1998 amendment, approved by voters, ensures the power to define marriage lies solely with the Legislature.

“It is undisputed opposite-sex couples can naturally procreate and same-sex couples cannot,” Senior District Judge Alan Kay wrote. “Allowing opposite-sex couples to marry furthers this interest and allowing same-sex couples to marry would not do so.”

Wednesday’s ruling affirms the importance of protecting and strengthening marriage as the union of one man and one woman, according to Alliance Defending Freedom Legal Counsel Dale Schowengerdt.

“The people of Hawaii adopted a constitutional amendment to uphold marriage, and the court rightly concluded that the democratic process shouldn’t be short-circuited by judicial decree,” Schowengerdt said.

Senator admits, ‘Attack on parental rights’ is ‘the whole point’ of banning sex orientation therapy

(LifeSiteNews) The author of a California bill that would forbid minors from seeking therapy to overcome unwanted feelings of same-sex attraction has admitted his intention was to undermine parental rights.

“The attack on parental rights is exactly the whole point of the bill, because we don’t want to let parents harm their children,” said State Senator Ted Lieu, D-Torrance.

Senate Bill 1172 would ban anyone under 18 from receiving reparative or sexual orientation conversion therapy, even if requested by the teens or their parents. The bill would label the treatment “unprofessional conduct” and“therapeutic deception.”

“This is not a matter of forcing a child to do something against his or her will,” he said. “This is a matter of forbidding parents, professional therapists, and young people to have the right of choice.”

Opponents say Lieu has his science and his legal priorities wrong.

Pacific Justice Institute (PJI) attorney Matthew McReynolds warned LifeSiteNews.com months ago, “The logical implication from these two assertions is that the state is giving itself the power to take kids away from parents who do not affirm the kids’ sexual confusion.”

Pro-Family Groups Combine Resources for Non-Partisan Voter Registration Drive

(ChristianPost) Six organizations known for their pro-family and pro-life work are joining forces this fall in a combined and coordinated non-partisan voter registration drive designed to increase voter turnout for November. The joint program will be called Commit 2 Vote 2012.

"On average, more than two families every minute do something tangible to transform the culture through the resources and encouragement offered by Focus on the Family," said Jim Daly, president of Focus on the Family. "Our hope through the Commit 2 Vote 2012 campaign is that families will use the resources we provide to make their voices heard on issues that affect the strength and health of the family – as well as the direction of our country."

"As Christ representatives on earth, Christians have a mandate to be the `salt and light` of our culture," read a statement on the coalition`s website. "Since this is a presidential election year, we have the opportunity to positively impact the direction of our country, the men and women who lead it, and the policies they enact."

Chick-fil-A not alone in touting religion alongside products

(FoxNews) Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy is not the only business tycoon who refuses to hide his faith under a bushel — top executives from some of America’s biggest companies are born-again Christians who talk about their beliefs more often than their balance sheets.

Major corporations like Tyson Foods, Interstate Batteries and Hobby Lobby were either founded or are now led by outspoken and deeply religious bosses. While some of the companies distinguish between their corporate identities and their leaders’ faith, others embrace it.

Muslims Free Ethiopian Christians After Punishment for Prayer

(CharismaNews) Saudi Arabia on Wednesday deported the last of the 35 Ethiopian Christians who were detained for holding an all-night prayer vigil

Saudi security officials assaulted, harassed and pressured the Christians to convert to Islam during their incarceration.

“We have arrived home safe. We believe that we are released as the result of the pressure exerted by ICC and others,” said one of the prisoners speaking to International Christian Concern (ICC). “The Saudi officials don’t tolerate any other religions other than Islam. They consider non-Muslims as unbelievers. They are full of hatred towards non-Muslims.”

The Christians were detained on December 15, 2011 while holding a prayer service at a private home. The Saudi officials originally accused the Christians of “mixing with opposite gender” but when pressured by the U.S. officials, they started giving other reasons for the detention, including: being in the country illegally, and engaging in drug and human trafficking.

D.C. Fetal Pain Bill Falls Short

(CitizenLink) The first piece of legislation limiting abortion in the District of Columbia failed to pass the U.S. House of Representatives on Tuesday.

H.R. 3803, sponsored by Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz., would have banned abortions performed after the 20th week of pregnancy, based on preborn children’s ability to feel pain. Because it was brought up under a suspension of the rules, it required a two-thirds majority to pass, rather than a simple majority.

That means a woman may get an abortion for any reason through all nine months of her pregnancy in the city, up to the point of birth.

Liberal Majority On Campus: Yes, We`re Biased

(WorldNetDaily) It’s not every day that left-leaning academics admit that they would discriminate against a minority.

Psychologists Yoel Inbar and Joris Lammers, based at Tilburg University in the Netherlands, surveyed a roughly representative sample of academics and scholars in social psychology and found that “In decisions ranging from paper reviews to hiring, many social and personality psychologists admit that they would discriminate against openly conservative colleagues.”

Protecting religious freedom in school

(OneNewsNow) The Liberty Institute has announced the upcoming launch of a project aimed at protecting the rights of 50 million students in America this coming school year.

The advocacy organization is preparing to launch "The Angela Project" this month. Institute attorney Erin Leu describes how they will equip parents and students with important information regarding religious rights at public schools.

Leu says the effort came about last year after a federal judge threatened Angela Hildenbrand, valedictorian at her Texas high school, with jail time if she mentioned God during her graduation speech.

"She stood up for her constitutional rights, and we successfully got that order dissolved," the attorney reports. "She was able to pray during her graduation speech ... so we are naming this project after Angela to encourage students to stand up for their rights the way that Angela did."

Muslim Polygamists To Get More Welfare Benefits

(WorldNetDaily) Muslim immigrants with more than one wife will see an increase in their social welfare benefits beginning in 2013, when reforms to the British welfare system come into effect

Although polygamy is illegal in Britain, the state effectively recognizes the practice for Muslim men, who often have up to four wives (and in some instances five or more) in a harem.

Under the new rules, however, the extra wives will be eligible to claim a full single person’s allowance (despite being married), while the original married couple will still receive the standard married person’s allowance.

`Kiss-in` another chance to support Chick-fil-A

(OneNewsNow) As Chick-fil-A expects a second call to action today, one Christian attorney is encouraging the restaurant`s supporters to make another visit.

Hundreds of thousands of people flocked to Chick-fil-A stores on Wednesday to show their appreciation for CEO Dan Cathy`s biblically correct support for traditional marriage.

But also in response to his recent statement affirming that support, homosexuals in at least 30 states will be visiting stores today to make a different statement. Their hope, according to Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel Action, is to drive business away.

"Here we have this `kiss-in`, where homosexual activists who are hostile to Christianity, hostile to biblical morality, hostile to free speech are going into Chick-fil-As just to try to shock little children and shock families and people by engaging in perverse, sexually-charged behavior," he explains.

But Barber is encouraging proponents of traditional marriage to counter that effort by returning to Chick-fil-A for another meal.

Heroic Chinese mother saved 30 children found dumped in the trash

(LifeSiteNews) Although 88-year-old Lou Xiaoying may now be close to death, she will not soon be forgotten in her home city of Jinhua.

The Daily Mail on Monday recorded the astonishing story of the elderly woman, whose meager living recycling trash did not stop her from bringing home and caring for all the abandoned infants she came across - all 30 of them.

Lou cares for some of her many children along with her husband Li Zin.

“I realised if we had strength enough to collect garbage, how could we not recycle something as important as human lives,” she said.

Back-To-School: Where families shop (and don`t)

(American Family Association) August means Back-To-School spending for families. Christian families appreciate companies that use Biblical principles to direct their business practices. For example, AFA applauds Hobby Lobby and Chick-fil-A for honoring God in all they do.

Unfortunately, some companies use their influence to promote social agendas that undermine family values.

While AFA does not maintain a comprehensive list of companies, and their practices, we want to let you know about three stores your family might specifically choose to avoid.

By clicking on the company name below, you can see our most recent AFA Action Alert on the individual company.

OFFICE DEPOT - Office Depot recently announced it was donating $1 million dollars to recording artist Lady Gaga`s Born This Way Foundation. Office Depot is helping push the homosexual agenda in public schools by encouraging our children to falsely believe people are born "gay."

J.C. PENNEY - Penney`s aggressive national campaign to promote "gay" marriage began with the hiring of Ellen DeGeneres as the official company spokesperson. It followed up with full-page ads featuring lesbian and gay couples during Mother`s Day and Father`s Day promotions.

SEARS - Despite multiple denials by the company, Sears continues to offer hard-core pornography, including sadomasochism, bondage, and X-rated products on its website. On July 27, AFA documented dozens of pornographic products available on Sears` website.

We will continue to be a voice for what is right. AFA unapologetically stands for the Christian values that made our country great. We ask that you continue to pray for us and take the action steps we recommend so that together we continue to make a difference.

Pushing for `gay marriage` plank

(OnenNewsNow) Democrats may make history this weekend by adopting "gay marriage" in the party`s platform.

Democrats may include support for same-gender marriage in the party`s platform before the fall Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. The issue is being discussed for the first time this weekend with a push from California Democrats who signed on to support the cause.
