Mocking of Christ part of `tolerance`?

(OneNewsNow)  San Francisco homosexuals have again mocked the holiest day of the year for Christians by staging the "Hunky Jesus Contest."

The annual fundraiser for homosexual activists took place in a large park in San Francisco and featured the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence -- a group of homosexual drag queens dressed as nuns. Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth About Homosexuality explains the motivation behind the observance.

The event typically is held on Easter Sunday. "It`s just another indication of the one-way street, which is `tolerance` for homosexuals -- tolerance for me but not for you," states LaBarbera. "They demand respect for homosexuals even as they heap contempt upon Christians on the holiest day in the Christian calendar."

Former Planned Parenthood Director Abby Johnson Launches New TV Commercial with Life Always

(Christian Newswire)  Today, Life Always, launches a new national TV campaign featuring Abby Johnson, a Life Always board member and former Planned Parenthood "Employee of the Year." Johnson is the author of "Unplanned," a book that chronicles both sides of the abortion issue.

Johnson says one of the reasons to launch the commercial was to expose that fact that "while Planned Parenthood is quick to claim that only 3% of what they provide are abortion services, that equated to taking the lives of 332,278 unborn children in 2009."

"Planned Parenthood reduces the child before birth to an object, a `choice`, a thing of less-than-human status. Their support of women`s rights tramples on the rights of the child." Johnson continued.

As a former Planned Parenthood Director, and Employee of the Year, Ms. Johnson has an insider`s perspective on Planned Parenthood`s practices as well as the heartfelt but, in her opinion, misguided efforts of some radical antiabortion activists.

In her new commercial, Johnson says, "I used to tell women that abortion removed a mass of tissue, but that`s not true. I had to account for the body parts of aborted babies."

Johnson points out that Planned Parenthood`s business model relies on income from abortions. "They won`t protect your child," she says, "because there`s no money in doing that."

Life Always board member Rev. Derek McCoy states "this campaign continues our efforts to bring awareness to the respect for life issue and accentuates the gross inaccuracies that Planned Parenthood portrays to the public."

He adds "from sexual abuse cover up, to racism, to untruths made by Planned Parenthood executives it provides a clear picture on what Planned Parenthood is really about...Abortion! All Children deserve an opportunity and a chance to live, as well as mothers receiving appropriate care and counsel."

Life Always board chairman Pastor Stephen Broden adds, "Planned parenthood is in a multi-billion dollar business and through slick advertising and sophisticated messaging they have deceived many into believing they exist to help women. Planned Parenthood hurts women, babies and families, and abortions harm women."

When Abby Johnson left Planned Parenthood, they filed a restraining order to keep her from talking. A judge denied the request.

"They don`t want Americans to talk about the issue because they don`t want people to learn the ugly realities behind it," she added.

The commercial will air on MSNBC and FOX News this week.

Breakthrough: New heart grown using adult stem cells

(LifeSiteNews)  Researchers at the University of Minnesota used adult stem cells to create a living human heart that they hope will revolutionize transplants.

The breakthrough, said lead researcher Dr. Doris Taylor, could ultimately mean that “donated” hearts are no longer used in transplant operations, circumventing the ethical problems involved in organ donation and obviating the need for drugs to combat immune system rejection.

Dr. Taylor, director of the university’s Center for Cardiovascular Repair, is one of the world’s leaders in heart organ repair and regeneration and has said it is her goal to create a living heart that can be transplanted into a patient, entirely out of stem cells.

Texas House votes to send millions in family planning funds to pro-life centers instead

(LifeSiteNews)  Lawmakers in the Texas House have just voted to approve amendments to the state budget that will divert millions of dollars from family planning funding to organizations that instead provide alternatives to abortion. Some of the money will also go to groups that help those with mental handicaps, or further other medical services.

As of press time, lawmakers have yet to vote on an amendment that would defund Planned Parenthood by prohibiting family planning dollars from going to any abortion provider.

The development was met with outrage by abortion giant Planned Parenthood, which announced on Twitter, “TX House just voted to take $8.3 million from family planning to give to unregulated crisis pregnancy centers for the next 2 yrs.”

The puzzle of intolerant tolerance

(MercatorNet)  Tolerance is essential to any sort of life in common, especially in complex democratic societies. Originally it was simply a practice, a way of living together and respecting the freedom of others. It has now become a value in its own right, perhaps the supreme value. Certainly it features high up on the list whenever people are asked to identify what the West stands for.

To create a tolerant society, however, democracies increasingly resort to intolerance. There is no question that a decent society must protect itself and vulnerable minorities from groups which refuse to respect the rights of other people. But intolerant tolerance is directed against groups which actually respect and defend the rights and freedoms of others.

Porn industry fights anti-obscenity laws, claims porn isn’t ‘obscenity’

(LifeSiteNews)  The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection (ASACP) announced yesterday the launching of a lobbying effort to oppose enforcement of anti-obscenity laws.

The ASACP is an association of internet porn sites who claim to support efforts to protect children from viewing pornography, as well as the elimination of child pornography from the web.

In a letter to Congressional legislators, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, and state attorney generals across the country, ASACP CEO Joan Irvine claimed that there was “no need” for the enforcement of obscenity laws, since “the legal adult entertainment industry is not involved in obscenity.”

‘There’s not a day that goes by we don’t think of Terri’: 6 years since Schiavo tragedy

(LifeSiteNews)  On March 31, 2005, a Florida woman who was at the center of an intense nationwide controversy took her last breath, after thirteen days without food or water. A bouquet of flowers sat in a vase of water next to the bed where Terri Schiavo lay, forbidden under court order from receiving the water she needed to sustain her life.

Six years later, Terri’s family reverently recalled their loved one’s struggle to live, a struggle that became a measure of America’s conscience after attempts to overrule husband Michael Schiavo’s decision to withdraw her nutrition and hydration went as far as the United States Congress.

Although Terri’s story may have ended, Bobby Schindler, Terri’s brother and founder of the Terri Schiavo Life and Hope Network, told LifeSiteNews.com that today - Terri’s Day - must call attention to the thousands of others who suffer silently in conditions similar to his sister’s.

Parents outraged once again at retailer selling sex

(OneNewsNow)  A storm continues to brew over Abercrombie & Fitch`s marketing strategy, which according to some is again sexualizing youth.

A&F is back in the business of pushing eroticism on children by marketing a new push-up bikini top, which was originally being sold for girls as young as seven years old -- according to Bill Johnson of the American Decency Association.

"It`s the continued recognition that Abercrombie & Fitch is one of the leading corporations in America attempting to use sexual images, sexual T-shirts -- [and] now bras for little ones -- apparently to have the cutting edge and to degrade the culture even that much more rapidly,” says Johnson.
